"Are your legs broken? Need me to call you an ambulance?"
The man's cold voice rang out, utterly detached.
This made Raina Sterling's face turn deathly pale, while Kevin Keane, standing to the side, struggled to suppress his laughter.
The comment was genuinely funny, and the fact that Damian Xavier had delivered it in such a deadpan, serious tone made it even more hilarious.
Raina Sterling couldn't believe that after all her effort, even risking injury, he was completely unmoved and had even said something so cruel.
But even so, she wasn't ready to give up.
Raina Sterling gritted her teeth, forcing herself to swallow her resentment as she looked toward Damian Xavier again.
"Mr. Xavier, can't you just help me up?"
But Damian Xavier didn't even spare her a glance. Without looking back, he turned and walked away, tossing a final command to Kevin Keane over his shoulder: "Call the ambulance."
