Besides the ship's captain, there were quite a few other passengers present.
Most of them were not ordinary folk. They were either merchants who traveled far and wide, or seafaring Rangers who roamed from place to place.
The latter, seeing the raiders plundering, immediately drew their blades and rushed forward.
The merchants, however, took a step back, letting their guards block the way. They intended to wait and see how things developed; playing it safe was the best approach.
If the captain and these Rangers could repel the band of raiders, that would be for the best.
If not, they would just have to part with their wealth to avoid disaster.
They were unwilling to get involved unless it was the absolute last resort.
Just as the situation descended into chaos, the cheerful, laughing voice of an old Daoist suddenly rang out:
"Amitabha Buddha!"
As his voice fell, the old Daoist tapped his toes on the deck and launched himself into the air.
