Hua Ling's gaze, fixed on Gwenie, flickered. Gwenie keenly sensed the subtle killing intent behind her and whirled around to look at Hua Ling.
In the darkness, Hua Ling's eyes were exceptionally clear. She blinked innocently, asking, "What is it? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Gwenie's eyes narrowed. "Did you feel anything just now?"
Hua Ling's eyes widened, and she glanced about furtively. "Nope. What is it? Is someone trying to ambush us?"
Gwenie scrutinized Hua Ling. "You're sure?"
Hua Ling played dumb. "Really, nothing!"
She lowered her gaze, her expression growing somber. "It's probably because I used my ability... My senses aren't as sharp as they used to be, so I guess I didn't feel a thing..."
Hua Ling sighed. "I'm sorry, Gwenie. I'm useless. I'm just holding you back."
