Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: M-Class Mecha Touches Down

Back in the Doomsday World, Lin Qi was still in the bathroom, though his clothes had changed from a moment ago.

He went to the workshop, where he took off his clothes from the Cyber World and changed into an outfit printed with "Mo University Robot Fighting."

Xia Chu, who was busy tinkering with the 3D printing equipment as Lin Qi had instructed, didn't notice his actions.

After changing, Lin Qi went to a computer. He took out his hand-drawn schematics, used a collection robot to convert their format, and then imported the files onto a USB drive.

Lin Qi had already manufactured most of the core components. He wouldn't need to be heavily involved in the rest of the production, as the collection robot would handle the bulk of the work.

Lin Qi just needed to handle the final assembly.

Now, Lin Qi needed to build a weapon for the Mecha.

"Xia Chu, I need your help," Lin Qi called out.

"What is it?" Xia Chu moved with incredible speed, reacting almost the instant Lin Qi spoke.

"I might need your Extraordinary Power for this next part," Lin Qi explained.

If he wasn't mistaken, Xia Chu's Extraordinary Power allowed her to condense water into ice and then control it.

Under the influence of her Extraordinary Power, the process completely defied the laws of thermodynamics, with heat seemingly vanishing into thin air.

"My Extraordinary Power?" Xia Chu sounded bewildered.

It had been less than twenty-four hours since she'd gained her Extraordinary Power, and she had only ever used it subconsciously at the very moment of her awakening.

Xia Chu didn't even know how to use it at will.

Lin Qi was prepared for this. As a Wizard, he had plenty of experience controlling Extraordinary Power.

He first took a steel plate and heated it with a laser.

"Try to cool it down directly."

Lin Qi wanted to see if Xia Chu's Extraordinary Power was entirely dependent on water.

If she could bypass water and directly manipulate an object's temperature, the potential of this Extraordinary Power would be terrifying.

Water Manipulation and entropy manipulation are two completely different concepts.

Xia Chu stared at the red-hot steel plate, at a complete loss.

Lin Qi elaborated, "Focus your mind on the spot where you want to apply your Extraordinary Power. Try to feel a sensation like water gathering—that's your Spiritual Power, the very source of your Extraordinary Power…"

The manifestation of Xia Chu's Extraordinary Power was actually quite similar to that of a Wizard, except a Wizard's Abilities were far more diverse.

In contrast, for a spontaneously awakened Extraordinary like Xia Chu, the potential of a single-faceted ability was higher, capable of growing almost limitlessly alongside her Extraordinary Level.

A Wizard's power, however, was capped by the Level of the Extraordinary Items they could analyze.

As for which path was superior, Lin Qi, as a mere Tier One Wizard, was not yet able to judge.

As Xia Chu concentrated her will, Lin Qi observed through his Spiritual Vision that the plate's temperature remained unchanged. Instead, the water vapor around it began to gather and condense, slowly forming into ice crystals.

The ice crystals then fell onto the steel plate, instantly turning into a large cloud of steam.

The steam would re-condense into water, then freeze into ice, only to be evaporated again in a repeating cycle.

'It seems Xia Chu's Extraordinary Power is still based on water. While she can control water temperature, it's not direct entropy manipulation.'

"You can stop now. I think I get it."

Having confirmed the nature of Xia Chu's Extraordinary Power, Lin Qi now had a clear design concept for the weapon.

'If the material's heat dissipation was insufficient, he would just add liquid cooling.'

'He'd use hollow steel, fill it with water, and rely directly on Xia Chu's control over the water temperature for cooling.'

'The heat would be absorbed by the water, then, influenced by her Extraordinary Power, it would simply be whisked away into nothingness.'

'This design completely violated thermodynamics; a weapon built this way in the Cyber World would inevitably explode.'

But as an L-level Researcher and an Extraordinary Professional, Lin Qi adapted his weapon designs to the circumstances, unbound by conventional theory.

With a clear plan in mind, Lin Qi's work sped up considerably.

Barely half a day later, an M-Class Mecha lay flat in the workshop. It was fitted with electromagnetic multi-barrel gun systems on its left and right flanks, an ammunition bay on its back, and the bay was even equipped with a directional electromagnetic retrieval system.

Finally, next to the Mecha, a four-meter-long Chainsaw Sword forged from a tungsten steel alloy rested on the ground.

Two miniature reactors were installed in the Mecha, with another one inside the Chainsaw Sword.

Its remaining energy could sustain combat at full firepower for just over thirty hours.

The operational time wasn't long, but it would be enough to last until Lin Qi could travel to Greenfield City in the Cyber World to secure a new power supply.

He held a Crimson Crystal under his tongue. It was the eleventh one he had absorbed. Before returning to the Cyber World, he would be able to absorb a twelfth, pushing his physical condition to the level of a Tier One Extraordinary.

"It's finished already?"

Beside Lin Qi, Xia Chu felt as if she were in a dream.

'Is this really the level of technical skill Lin Qi possesses?'

'Is this the same Lin Qi who couldn't even win a national competition?'

'Could his Extraordinary Power be Intelligence Enhancement?'

Xia Chu's mind started to run wild again.

"Get in the cockpit. We're heading out to rendezvous with the rescue team."

Lin Qi was already walking toward the Mecha and opening the cockpit.

It was a two-person cockpit—not because the Mecha required two pilots, but because Lin Qi needed to make room for Xia Chu.

Besides, he needed Xia Chu's help to cool the weapon systems.

Xia Chu was still standing there, stunned, but the collection robot moved first, taking its position inside the cockpit.

Before getting in, it even made a point to place the packaged Crimson Crystals into a storage unit.

Of all the components in the entire Mecha, the collection robot was the most crucial.

The collection robot's chip served as the core of its processing power.

Lin Qi, already settled in the cockpit, called out to Xia Chu again. She finally snapped out of it and hurried inside.

The cockpit canopy closed. Screens encircling the interior lit up, displaying the outside environment.

The video feed came from various monitors scavenged from around the building. The image quality and frame rates were inconsistent, making the view from inside seem a bit shoddy, but it was usable.

Lin Qi needed the display to pilot the Mecha. As for Xia Chu, a panel had appeared in front of her showing the weapon systems' temperature.

Lin Qi had already run a quick drill with Xia Chu on how to cool the weapon systems.

With her current Spiritual Power, Xia Chu could probably manage four rounds of cooling.

One round of cooling was enough to sustain two minutes of continuous fire.

It wasn't very efficient, but it would have to be enough.

After all, the ammunition bay only held enough for six rounds of continuous fire.

Inside the workshop, the medium-sized M-Class Mecha slowly rolled over, reaching out to grab its signature weapon: the Chainsaw Sword.

It then began to crawl forward.

The ceiling was too low for the Mecha to stand, so it could only inch its way slowly toward the window.

The Chainsaw Sword revved to life. Its tungsten steel teeth sliced smoothly through the window and wall, drawing the attention of the massive horde of Zombies below.

CRASH.

The sound of the heavy impact echoed for hundreds of meters.

The M-Class Mecha from the Cyber World had made its grand debut in the Doomsday World.

「Far away, in the student dormitories.」

Survivors who heard the commotion looked out from a distance, gazing in this direction.

"Holy shit! The mechanical engineering department just produced a god!"
