Believe it or not, Hah'Er's method was actually working. It lay on the ground, butt in the air, and hadn't scooted its nose along the dirt for very long before it started calling out happily, "Ooh! Ooh!" Before Shen Yibin could even do anything, it eagerly began digging at the soil with its own paws. Even though there were no bumps on the ground here, Shen Yibin was sure there had to be a bamboo shoot underneath.
"Here, move aside and let me do it." Without another word, Shen Yibin went over with his shovel. He followed the spot Hah'Er had started digging and continued downward. Sure enough, once he'd dug about twenty centimeters deep, a plump bamboo shoot appeared. He broke it off, tossed it to Hah'Er, and after searching along the bamboo rhizome for a bit, dug up three more shoots from the same patch.
