Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Your Behavior Is a Perfect Match for Your Grades

Monday served as a wrap-up for the weekly test.

Test papers were handed out, one after another, followed by a review of the questions.

When the last paper, biology, was returned, it meant all the scores from the latest weekly test were out.

Although Li Zhi had said the weekly test scores were inflated, and that was indeed the case.

After all, there were no proctors, and students didn't even have to change seats.

But for those who took the test seriously, it was a good way to check their own progress and identify areas for improvement.

Under Li Zhi's supervision, Shen Yuan had naturally been very diligent.

The students of Class 15, while prone to messing around at times, still had a degree of self-discipline when it came to their studies.

During the test, they would all complain, "Why are we doing this?" "What's the point?" "It's just a weekly test," but in reality, if you asked them about it later, you'd find every single one of them had been cramming like crazy.

The rat race was discouraged, but not participating was impossible.

It was all just talk. Anyone who believed it was an idiot.

And after what happened with the physics weekly test, Ah Jie no longer dared to show off his scores.

He was terrified that Peipei from the Kissing Association would drop a line like, "Zhou Shaojie, Pining in Unrequited Love."

Broken chalk could still be used, but a serial on the school's confession wall would truly be immortalized for ages.

Damn that Kissing Association! They even had the school's confession wall under their control!

In contrast, the Early Love Prohibition Association, those lackeys of the dean of students, had no effective weapons whatsoever.

They were just pathetically lame.

During the last study hall of the afternoon, the academic representative, Zhong Junkai, placed a blank sheet of paper on the first-row desk.

"Everyone, write down your scores and pass this along quickly. Don't take too long."

Watching the score sheet land in front of them, the students in the first row immediately wore helpless expressions.

"It's always us who have to write our scores down first. By the time it gets to the back, they've all had a good look before adding their own."

"Yeah, yeah! I suggest we pass it from the back to the front next time!"

Zhong Junkai rolled his eyes. "We'll see next time. This is the goddamn first weekly test. What's the rush?!"

Shen Yuan was in the third group, deep in the back of the classroom, in the second to last row. By the time the sheet reached him, pretty much everyone would have already filled it in.

'Perfect for some guilt-free snooping!'

But it was also obvious that it would take a long time to get to him.

After all, everyone had the same idea.

The small registration sheet was passed around for ten minutes and hadn't even made it past the first group.

By the time it reached the third group, class would practically be over.

"Does it really take this long to write down some scores?"

"Seriously!"

"The way you're all staring at other people's scores is like a goblin coveting someone else's happiness."

That one devastatingly effective sentence made the score sheet move along much faster.

After all, nobody wanted to be that goblin.

"Pass it faster! Once it's filled out, can't we just take a picture and post it in the class group chat? Is there really a need to drag this out for so long?"

As the score sheet made its way around, a sharp intake of breath would occasionally be heard in the classroom.

They probably saw some ridiculously god-tier score.

Shen Yuan got the registration sheet just before class ended.

He quickly wrote down his own scores.

Chinese 117, Math 85, English 145, Physics 81, Chemistry 81, Biology 87.

Total score: 596.

According to Li Zhi's "Score Evolution Theory," a score between 550 and 600 made you a stray dog.

'Fuck!'

'How did I regress?'

Math.

Shen Yuan pursed his lips.

He probably only scored so well on last semester's final math exam because he had a sudden burst of inspiration.

Curious, Shen Yuan glanced at Zhou Shaojie's scores.

Chinese 119, Math 150, English 61, Physics 100, Chemistry 90, Biology 97.

Although Ah Jie's English was a total disaster, his scores in science and math were just absurd.

He was completely outclassed.

Then he looked at Li Zhi's scores.

HISS—

When he saw that row, Shen Yuan sucked in a sharp breath.

Chinese 121, Math 150, English 140, Physics 95, Chemistry 97, Biology 90.

'I'm not gonna total it, not gonna total it.'

'Just one more look makes me want to die.'

After he was done looking, Shen Yuan passed the score sheet to the row behind him.

Not long after, another sharp intake of breath came from the back row.

It seemed they had seen Li Zhi's scores too.

Young Master Li's scores were already in the top tier at Jiyang Middle School.

People like her were the school's prized treasures.

Before the bell rang, once the score sheet was complete, it was also uploaded to the class group chat.

As soon as the dismissal bell rang, Ah Jie's voice piped up.

"Let's go, let's go! Yuan, wanna hit the cafeteria?"

Shen Yuan refused.

He still had just over 600 meters to go to complete his mission, so he figured he'd take care of it during dinner time.

Of course, another very important reason was to escape.

'If I don't run now, should I stick around to be tortured by Li Zhi?'

He had really messed up on this test, not even managing to break 600.

Instead of eating at the school cafeteria, Shen Yuan ran outside.

[Mission Complete!]

[Within one week, run a cumulative 10km. Current progress: 10/10km. Reward: Vigorous and Full of Energy (Basic). (Completed)]

As the system's voice echoed in his mind, Shen Yuan stood still for a moment.

According to the system, his stamina recovery rate would increase, which meant the energy he had just spent running those 700 meters would also be restored more quickly.

Shen Yuan had decent endurance; all that running around every day meant it couldn't be too bad.

Shen Yuan was quite aware of his own condition.

A minute later, Shen Yuan noticed the effect of "Vigorous and Full of Energy."

He had recovered.

The 700-meter run had taken him three minutes.

Normally, with his level of stamina, that amount of exertion would take at least several minutes to fully recover from.

But now, Shen Yuan felt like he was good to go again.

It wasn't a complete recovery, but this feeling of being "good to go again" had never come on so quickly before.

"Feels pretty good."

After finishing the system mission, Shen Yuan found a random Shaxian restaurant outside the school.

He then headed back toward the school, carrying a one-liter bottle of iced tea, but halfway there, he suddenly turned back.

...

As he walked up the stairs, just as he was about to reach his floor, Shen Yuan's steps suddenly slowed.

'Killing intent!'

Just then, a figure suddenly appeared around the corner of the landing.

Li Zhi's figure was shrouded in the shadows of the school building, looking down on Shen Yuan from above.

"Your actions are a perfect match for your grades."

Shen Yuan froze. He clearly understood her subtext.

Stray dogs do indeed wander all over the place.

"Hey, hey, hey, that's a bit insulting!"

"Is it not?"

The beautiful girl snorted dismissively. "A whole summer vacation has passed, and your grades didn't improve—they dropped. What is there to argue about? I'm not asking you to make progress, but you can't even maintain your level. Why should I be polite to you?"

Shen Yuan fell silent.

Li Zhi looked at Shen Yuan and spoke again. "I asked for you. Tong Churou scored a 622 on this weekly test. Her physics score broke 90. You did worse than her."

Shen Yuan's defenses were shattered.
