Ivy Holden was curled up in her seat in the car, dozing off. In a daze, she saw a frozen lake.
A thick layer of white snow covered the lake's surface. Brushing the snow aside revealed a thick layer of ice beneath.
Stepping on it didn't make a sound. Striking it with a shovel, it was rock-solid, and the blow only managed to chip out a small pit.
So everyone was delighted and started making arrangements to break the ice for winter fishing.
Others held hands and began to skate on the lake.
Clementine Chambers had somehow changed into ice skates and was pulling Polly Phelps along, gliding across the lake as if she were flying.
Under the sun, on the snow-covered lake, Clementine Chambers, Polly Phelps, and a few staff members who had joined in the fun looked like joyful angels.
Ivy Holden was quite envious, so she asked a nearby staff member who else had gear.
The staff member was clearly well-prepared, pulling a pair of ice skates out of a large box.
