"What is this?" Pei Ye asked, watching as Professor An extended her right hand, using her long, sharp, black nails to slice open the skin near her left collarbone.
The slender wound was tinged with black, the everted flesh a sinister dark red. With her keen eyesight, Pei Ye could even see the shriveled blood vessels beneath the skin.
Had it been a living person, such an injury would have had them wailing in agony, but Professor An didn't even knit a brow. She pressed her index and middle fingers together and reached into the sliced-open wound. Her two slender fingers rooted around inside before pulling out a piece of bone covered in clotted black blood. A horrifying and shocking action to the living, it was as mundane to Professor An as casually unzipping a shoulder bag.
