Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Bring Good Luck

From the moment Rosalind Lowell woke up, she was being pulled in every direction by a team of maids and assistants.

Elsa Ainsworth, having already changed into her bridesmaid dress, was chatting and laughing off to the side.

With the entire affair already scheduled down to the minute, there wasn't much she could do to help.

"Rosie, this bracelet is for you. It's called 'Lucky,' and I hope it brings you good fortune."

"Wow, Sherry, this is…" The makeup artist was busy with her face, so Rosalind Lowell could only glance at it out of the corner of her eye.

"Consider it my wedding gift to you."

"Thank you, Sherry Baby. I'm so touched. Can you help me put it on?" Rosalind Lowell extended her hand as she spoke. It was the first time she had ever received a gift.

"You want to wear it today? Won't it clash with your wedding dress?"

"You called it a lucky bracelet, so I'm definitely wearing it today, no matter what." She then looked at the jeweler. "Is that okay?"

The jeweler nodded. "Of course, Miss Lowell. I think the bracelet goes with the ensemble quite well. You can certainly wear it."

With the jeweler's approval, Elsa Ainsworth personally fastened it onto her wrist.

...

Meanwhile, in a small dressing room, Faye Lowell sat before a vanity, wearing an identical wedding dress.

"Faye, are you sure about this? If your dad finds out…"

Herman Lowell was still furious about the last incident. But since his precious daughter was the one who had caused the trouble, he hadn't done anything serious about it.

"Dad will respect my decision."

"What about their side? Will there be any problems?"

Faye Lowell shook her head. "Don't worry, Mom. I've arranged everything. Once the deed is done, I'll be Mrs. Davenport. Besides, I have a backup plan. If the first one fails, I'll move on to the second. In any case, I won't let that bitch Rosalind Lowell get off so easily."

Yvonne Carter sighed. She still couldn't help but feel a little uneasy.

But as long as her daughter was happy, nothing else mattered. She had nearly died giving birth to this child; of course she was going to spoil her.

Faye Lowell picked up her phone. "Hey, is everything in place on your end?"

"Good. The wedding is about to start. All of you, stay sharp."

Faye Lowell hung up. "Mom, you should go take your seat now. Go keep an eye on Dad. If he looks for you later and you're gone, it'll raise suspicion."

"Okay, I'll head over now."

As Faye Lowell stood up, Yvonne Carter turned back to look at her, her eyes red and welling with tears. "My Faye is so beautiful today. I always thought about how hard it would be to part with you on your wedding day, and how I'd have to marry you off in the grandest way possible. Even though… it's happening like this… our Faye is still the most beautiful bride."

"Alright, Mom. I will be happy, I promise," Faye Lowell said with confidence.

Once Yvonne Carter was gone, Faye Lowell gestured for the makeup artist to come over. "Quickly, attach my veil."

"Ow! That hurts! Can't you be more careful?"

The makeup artist looked resentful. 'A woman trying to steal a groom... I've no idea where she gets her confidence.'

"Yes, my apologies, Miss Lowell."

"Hurry up. And drape the veil further down in front, add a few more layers."

'Anyway, with the veil covering my face, no one will notice.'

'Her wedding dress and jewelry were custom-made to be exact replicas of Rosalind Lowell's. As long as no one looks too closely, no one will find out.'

...

Rosalind Lowell was all ready, just waiting for the wedding to start.

To ensure privacy, the wedding was still being held on a cruise ship, though they had moved to a larger vessel.

Just then, the phone of a staff member in the room suddenly rang.

"Hello? Huh? Mr. Davenport is looking for me?"
