"Young Madam, perhaps you should take this in? The young master is working in his study, and the staff doesn't usually dare disturb him."
Rosalind nodded. "Alright, I'll go."
She knocked on the study door. Alaric's voice came from within. "What is it?"
Rosalind bit her lip. Balancing the tray with one hand, she slowly pushed the door open.
She had barely cracked the door open when she heard Alaric's voice. "Did I say you could come in? Are you trying to..."
He stopped mid-sentence upon seeing Rosalind, and his frown eased slightly. "What are you doing here? I don't like being disturbed by irrelevant people when I work."
Rosalind shrugged and set the bowl of porridge on his desk. "I'm not too concerned. It's not like I can be fired, and our contract hasn't expired yet."
Alaric glanced at the porridge, ignoring her jab. "I don't have time to eat."
