"Miss Lowell, are you alright?" Jessica Sutton asked with false concern, not wanting to burn her bridges just yet.
Rosalind Lowell shook her head. "I'm fine. It's nothing."
"Leo didn't do it on purpose, so please don't be mad at him." Jessica Sutton played the part of a gentle peacemaker, making excuses for him.
"I'm not bothered by it," Rosalind Lowell replied, keeping her head down. "You don't have to follow me, Miss Sutton. I'm fine. You can go back to your seat; I'll be back shortly."
Jessica Sutton arched an eyebrow, a devious smile spreading across her face. Looking down at Rosalind, she felt a surge of superiority. Her high heels made her half a head taller, lending her a far more imposing presence.
"It's not often I get the chance to speak with Miss Lowell," she said. "I'm in no hurry to go back."
Rosalind Lowell paused what she was doing and looked up, her gaze holding a hint of defiance.
