"Fine, have it your way." Rosalind Lowell looked at Faye Lowell, her gaze turning sharp. "Then why don't you tell this wonderful news to your dear friends? See if they'll congratulate you."
"Oh! Right. Have you told Don Lowell this good news? Will he be thrilled, or will he tell you to get rid of it?" Rosalind Lowell pressed on.
"What does any of this have to do with you? My marrying Don Lowell has no impact on you whatsoever. Or is it that you can't stand to see me get ahead of you? But tell me, since we were kids, have you ever been better than me at anything?"
Rosalind Lowell scoffed. 'It wasn't that I couldn't compete; I was just holding back to please them.'
'But not anymore.'
"I just don't want to use the Davenport family's name to build ties with the Lowell family. Even if Alaric and I weren't fighting, I still wouldn't do it."
Faye Lowell narrowed her eyes. "But you promised Mom and Dad. Are you trying to go back on your word?"
