Chapter 3 - Ch. 3 – The Man

"You're still a young boy, but you don't reflect a seven-year-old child," she said.

She narrowed her eyes at me. Curious.

"Sorry if that's bothering you, I couldn't tell why either," I replied.

I forgot that this body was still young. No wonder the person who gave me a name was so keen. She seemed not bothered by me.

"Take it easy, I wish I knew you a little more," she sounded unhappy.

"Didn't you have something to do here?" I tried to evade her. I wasn't comfortable near her.

"Oh, I forgot, thanks for reminding me," she replied.

The cashier showed up and was approached by her. Created a space between us. I could leave.

"Hey, I will take my leave, okay? Bye," I tried to persuade her. But it failed.

"Why so in a rush? Take a seat, I knew you would wander," she demanded that I should stay.

She knew it. Was she the one who stalked me all along? I pulled up my revolver and pointed it at her. Perhaps, she planned all of this.

"Can you tell me who gave your name?" She asked.

Her body was slowly facing me. Her eyes were sharp. A glowing, levitating ice was carried on her open palm.

"I barely knew who was giving my name," I insisted.

I looked at her gaze, unable to recognize her intent. Who was she? Then, something surfaced in my thoughts.

"Histrionic Kin," I accidentally blurted.

It wasn't just a random cool name of an organization. Upon hearing that, her face relaxed. She lowered her offense. The ice slowly shrank, then burst into a glimmering shower of sparks before completely dissolving.

"Why do you know that?" She asked with a heavy tone.

"There was a job vacancy poster about it," I said.

"Tch…" She didn't like it.

I lowered my revolver and put it back in my pocket. She was unpredictable. She continued to focus on her thing, as it never happened.

"If you don't need anything from me, I will leave," I opened the door and walked off.

Outside, rain poured down on the town. Before I stepped out, I realized the rain didn't hit me.

"Doesn't it feel like raining all the time?" A feminine voice called out.

I looked up to see a black umbrella blooming over me, blocking the shower. I forgot my umbrella until she used it for me.

"Have you done your importance?" I asked.

"Not a serious thing to do," she calmly replied.

Then we walked off into the rain. It was cold and serene. I was walking, following her trail. Not long after we stopped at a building. The building was simple yet picturesque.

"Where are we?" I asked her.

"We are at my home," she replied.

She took out her key and opened the door. She greeted me at her house. I stepped in. The room wasn't big, but it was comfy. Just like an ordinary house.

"You can take a shower, and I will prepare some clothes for you," she said while handing me a towel.

"Thank you?" I replied then took it.

She was a kind person, but wasn't that too much for a stranger like me? I took off my revolver and my watch. Put it on the counter in the bathroom. I took a shower.

When I was showering, she put the clothes beside my revolver. I was a bit aware that she might take it. Not long after, I finished. Luckily, she didn't take it.

I walked out, heading towards the living room. She was sitting on the couch, slurping her tea. She noticed me.

"Are you done kid?" She asked.

"As you can see," I tried to be sarcastic.

But she wasn't responding to it. She seemed so relaxed. I sat across from her. There was a cup of hot tea on the table.

"You can drink it," she said.

I took it and had a sip. It was plain. I looked at her, and she was reading a book. She enjoyed her time without a disturbance. There was something I needed to ask.

"Why are you helping me?" I curiously questioned her.

She closed her book and gazed into my eyes.

"I'm not done yet, since we cut our conversation midway," she replied.

"What do you want from me?" I asked.

"Just a little chit-chat, no need to be formal," she insisted.

I put my revolver on the table. Her eyes gazed at it in an instant.

"Was he giving the revolver to you? The same person who gave your name," she immediately raised a question.

"Yes, why are you so insistent on investigating him?"

The man also mysteriously tried to avoid the crowd. To think of it, I felt something off.

"Can I borrow your revolver for a minute," she asked.

I allowed her. She took it and checked it. As she investigated it, her pupils began to widen.

"Do you know what revolver it is?" Her voice grew high.

"No?" I replied

"Upon triggering it, it will use the wielder's blood as the ammo," she explained.

It wasn't an ordinary metal gun; it could risk its own user's life. She looked dead serious. It also raised another question of why the man could have this type of revolver.

"I might be running out of time," she said.

It sounded bad. She immediately prepared her things. The revolver returned to me, but there was a crimson stain on the side—Blood. I gazed at her, she seemed ready to walk out.

"Stay here!" she demanded and left.

But I urged her to pay me back. I saved the revolver in my pocket and followed her. She rushed out without a cover for her head. I took my umbrella and chased her.

She was running aimlessly and glanced at me.

"You are a really extraordinary child," she said between gasps.

"Thanks for the compliment," I replied.

In the heavy rain, I overheard someone talking.

"The Pierrot will come on stage today."

Upon hearing that, she suddenly ran off. Following her trace, we arrived at the theater. The place was crowded. Everyone began to enter the stage.

Wasting no time, we rushed in. The theater inside was dark. Then, spotlights began to shine on the stage. The red curtains started to open. The crowd went into euphoria.

"Welcome to this show, where excitement and happiness are the source of elation," the speaker shouted elated.

The stage burst out a mass of white smoke. Out of nowhere, the person emerged within the smoke.

"Hello audience, grateful to see all of you here!" He shouted.

As the smoke vanished, the view became clear. I recognized him. I moved my gaze toward Philia. Her eyes were intensely staring at the man.

"Hey Rirthe, the crowd has been dominated by him. They can't be disturbed by anything," she said.

Immediately, a frost spike formed around Philia. Then it took off at a rapid speed. It focused on a straight trajectory towards the man.

"Sadly, someone disturbed our excitement," suddenly the frost projectile shattered in the air.

The man smiled with a revolver in his hand, pointing towards us.

"Long time no see, Lady Philia," he shouted.

"Tch…" Philia clicked.

"Also a new face here, but haven't we already met yet? Rirthe Virtanous."
