Chapter 109 - Chapter 109 The Beginning of a New Era

The lab was heavy with anticipation. After days of discussion and trial, Orochimaru and Hinata had settled on a two-pronged plan to break through the "cognitive membrane" that kept the consciousness from awakening.

On the physical side, Orochimaru took the lead.

He began making exquisitely fine adjustments to Kimimaro's body inside the cultivation tank.

Rather than damage its Perfection, he "added" to it—implanting almost invisible muscle-memory textures left by long combat, and etching deep into the bone the unique energy-pathway seal of the Kaguya clan's Shikotsumyaku, mimicking the battle scars the boy had carried in life.

Fusing fragments of Kimimaro's original body, he ensured the new form exuded Kimimaro's distinctive aura down to the smallest detail.

On the spiritual side, Hinata assumed control.

Blessed by the Pure Pupil Spirit Body, her Divine Sense and perception of Soul fluctuations reached unprecedented precision.

Like a patient tuner, she turned her own gentle spiritual power into an invisible bridge, softly linking the slumbering Soul to the freshly sculpted body, trying to dissolve the barrier between them.

Through that spiritual link she quietly conveyed to the sleeping consciousness every "imprint" Orochimaru added in the physical world.

She infused the obsession Kimimaro had lived by—fighting for Lord Orochimaru—a slow, delicate process.

Yakushi Kabuto stood nearby, monitoring every physiological metric and spiritual-wave pattern, ensuring the slightest change remained within control.

Seconds crawled past. The body in the tank maintained steady vitals, yet something indescribable now clung to it.

Suddenly Kabuto, eyes fixed on the brain-wave monitor, exclaimed.

"A change!"

On the screen the once-regular, flat line spiked—irregular, powerful peaks—like something stirring in the depths of a sleeping mind.

Almost simultaneously Hinata, through her spiritual link, felt it too.

"The moment is ripe," she whispered.

Orochimaru held his breath, serpentine pupils locked on the tank.

Under every gaze the motionless body twitched a finger; then pale green lashes fluttered like butterfly wings.

Slowly, newborn-bewildered, he opened his eyes.

At first they were hollow, adjusting to light and to the unfamiliar vessel.

His gaze drifted across the cold lab ceiling, the unfamiliar machines—and finally settled on the pale figure with golden serpent eyes outside the glass.

Time seemed to freeze.

The confusion in those ashen eyes receded like a tide, replaced by a bone-deep, instinctive fire.

His lips parted, dry from long silence.

He struggled to lift a hand, limbs stiff and alien.

At last a hoarse yet crystal-clear voice, carrying every shred of his obsession, broke the hush.

"Lord… Orochimaru…"

Success!

Kimimaro had truly, completely returned—consciousness awakened, Soul and new flesh perfectly fused.

"Hmph… hmmmph… ha-ha-ha!!!"

Orochimaru's suppressed chuckle erupted into unrestrained, almost mad laughter that rang through the lab, brimming with triumph and conquest.

"We did it!" he cried, eyes blazing. "We crossed the boundary of death itself—recalled a departed Soul and granted it flawless rebirth! This is the realm of gods, a power that will upend the very order of the Ninja World!"

Gazing at Kimimaro, who fought to master the body yet never looked away from him, Orochimaru wore a look of utter satisfaction and fanatic joy.

Death would bar his path no longer.

"Kimimaro… how do you feel? This body?"

After steadying his breathing he questioned the boy.

Kimimaro met his gaze, ash-grey eyes shining with resolve. Though weak, he tested the new frame.

"Lord Orochimaru… I feel well… I never thought to see you again. My body, my Soul—they remain weapons for your use."

Kabuto adjusted his glasses, hiding his shock. The sight of a theoretically dead youth speaking again rewrote his understanding of life, and worshipful reverence filled his eyes as he looked at Orochimaru.

Suppressing his elation, Orochimaru turned to Hinata, his gaze almost scorching.

"Miss Hinata, this is flawless success—the key to eternity and limitless possibility! With this experience we can replicate the process, resurrect more fallen champions, even craft perfect vessels for ourselves!"

The success of the experiment swelled his ambition without limit.

Kimimaro's return was more than the revival of a mighty warrior; it marked the dawn of a new era.

The wall between life and death had been cracked open, a fissure that would send tremors through the world.

[Ding! host and Orochimaru have completed the first true resurrection case, achieving a milestone with far-reaching impact on world rules!]

[Current points: 50,550.]

"Not so fast," Hinata cautioned. "If we expose ourselves now, every Ninja alive will hunt us without mercy."

Orochimaru narrowed his serpent eyes, then nodded.

"Hmph… prudence first, yet this triumph makes me eager to expand our gains…"

He looked to Kimimaro. "Adapt to the body; Kabuto, no outside missions for now."

Kabuto nodded, well aware of the price of a leak.
