Chapter 29 - Slaughter

John did not need to be told twice; he had just watched his junior's leg get crushed and then pumped full of blood.

A single glance at Cam's twitching body was all it took for him to break.

Seeing Jensen walk towards him, he immediately shouted, "Ahh!... Stop, stop I will tell you everything you want to know, please leave me alone!"

"Good, I hope that you can be more useful than your friend," Jensen's expression indifferent as he approached the shaking bandit.

John sang like a bird.

Apparently, there were more than 100+ level 1 although John did not know the exact amount, but he did know those of Level 2s which were about 13 and the Boss who seemed to be level 3.

Most of them had no formal training with a few ex-town guards with some degree of proficiency.

While he was strong and was almost certain he could take them in a frontal assault, he didn't see the upside to that.

Especially if he was surrounded, the likely chance of him getting hurt increased and the pain of regeneration was something he did not want to feel if he could help it.

'Assassination it is.'

He turned to John and dropped a dagger in front of him and said, "You can either kill yourself… easily or I could do it for you and I can't promise it wouldn't be painful."

John looked at the dagger, he considered taking his chance against Jensen but immediately gave up.

Just the idea of what the monster in front of him did to Cam sent shivers down his spine.

So… he grabbed the dagger and stabbed himself in his chest.

Jensen sighed, he really hoped the man would try to fight him, 'Any I made a promise.'

He grabbed a sword from his spatial rings and cut off his head putting him out of his misery.

As soon as it became night, Jensen stealthily made his way back to the bandits' camp.

Only at this point did he even realise that he had dark vision, while there was no moon he could see almost perfectly and the only difference from daytime was the slight tint in his vision like he was wearing a sunglass in a sunny day.

The first thing Jensen noticed was that the number of lookouts has increased since the last time.

Something he expected after they noticed that two of their lookouts were gone.

However, Jensen was not deterred by this. With his telekinesis, his daggers flashed from tree to tree, taking out the lookout before they could send out an alert.

Even though there were some experienced fighters, none of them could react before the daggers ripped a hole in their chests and neck simultaneously.

Once he was sure all the lookouts were dead, he slowly made his way to the entrance of the camp.

"Ene…" The two guards barely had time to react before Jensen's claws ripped the first's neck off and the daggers impaled the second guard in the neck shutting him up permanently.

Jensen caught their bodies as they fell, lowering them gently to the ground to avoid any noise.

For a moment, he stood still listening for any alarms or movement and when nothing came, he made his move.

He turned and slipped into the first tent where he found a man laid on his back, half-covered by a worn blanket, fast asleep.

Jensen stepped closer, he used one hand to cover the man's mouth and the other to drive a blade straight into his heart.

The man twitched for a few seconds before going still but Jensen held still for a second longer just to be sure before letting go.

Then he moved out, tent after tent, he made sure to make the kill as fast as possible while keeping it quiet.

Most of his victims didn't even wake up while others opened their eyes for a split second, only to meet his cold gaze before everything went dark.

Then as he turned to another tent, Jensen suddenly stopped as his nose slightly twitched.

'The smell of blood is slowly spreading.' Jensen frowned slightly, 'It not strong yet but… it would soon spread.'

He glanced around the camp, it was still quiet, but he did not think it would last for long.

He considered absorbing the blood… but he quickly dismissed the idea. Not only was it almost full but also, he had no use for useless Level 1 blood.

Some of them weren't even awakened… it just wasn't worth the space. So, he stepped back and changed direction.

If he was going to absorb blood, he might as well absorb one that mattered while reducing the number of enemies.

He ignored the rest of the bandits heading deeper into the came towards the tents of the Level 2s.

Their tents were easy to recognise, they were larger, built better… he didn't even need to use his senses.

He slipped into the first tent where he found two of his targets. Inside, two men sat near a small table, a dim lamp between them.

One was sharpening a blade while the other drank from a bottle.

Neither noticed him, not until it was too late.

His first dagger pierced through the first man's eyes, driving deep into his skull.

He appeared behind the second guy before he could react and his hand shot forward, grabbing his throat.

A squeeze and a twist were all it took to crack his neck killing him instantly as well.

Jensen let the body go slowly and before they could reach the ground, he absorbed all their blood.

Without wasting time, he crouched down and picked up their spatial rings. He thought about looting the rest of the tent for their tech but decided against it.

Time was of the essence.
