Marcus paid about twenty septims for materials he needed for health potions.
It was cheaper to make health potions, as materials and ingredients needed did not cost much compared to more complex potions.
After he got his materials, he went back to his room to rest a little bit.
In the afternoon, he knew that there was not much time left for working at the alchemy table, so he instead ordered himself good food and drink and had his fun in the inn.
Many people came and went; he kept on listening to some close conversations to hear if something was familiar to him.
While he kept on listening. He heard something that he knew.
"So, this boy in Windhelm," said one of the warrior-looking men to his friend, a weak-looking imperial.
"Yeah. I am not sure of his name, Arentino or something."
"I heard he is trying to contact the Dark Brotherhood."
"Worlds gone mad, I say." Imperial man added it.
The warrior man shook his head.
"I wonder what a young boy like him would want from an organization like that."
"It sounds weird to me, if I were to tell you the truth."
The imperial man nodded and kept on drinking the mead.
Meanwhile, Marcus nodded as he listened.
"So."
"One of the missions in the game, the rumors about it started."
"I wonder if things go like on the game."
"Windhelm authorities may stop the kid, or a real dark brotherhood assassin may arrive instead of the dragonborn."
"I am not sure Dragonborn even exists here."
Marcus thought.
He ate his meat and drank.
After about several hours, he went back to his room and then lay down on his bed and rested for the night.
In the morning time, he took his materials and went to the Elix Trader Shop.
He took one of the stools and sat down and started working.
For the next five hours, he did not leave the alchemizing table and kept on making more potions.
Its red color shone even brighter than usual.
In normal times, he needed to think and give some effort when making potions, but right now it was not needed.
As long as he focused, his hands worked automatically.
Truth be told, it turned out to be a pretty mundane task to do.
At least it was like this for the simpler potions.
Eight hours later, he got up from the seat and nodded.
"Here," he said as he looked at Nelix, who was yawning.
"There are fifty potions here."
Nelix counted the potions and nodded.
"Thank you," he said and placed five small pouches of septims on the table.
Each filled with twenty septims.
"Great."
Marcus made one hundred septims by working eight hours, which is a huge amount for almost all citizens of Tamriel.
He then left the shop and went to the inn to eat some food and drink to rest.
After resting and spending his time for about one hour, he went back to his room and started reading about the Lesser Ward this time.
The Ward spells are easy to cast for even a novice-level mage, but it is also one of the most important spell types that one can learn.
Basically, it is the "barrier" or "shield" type spell.
It can block physical attacks and stop arrows and even magical attacks as long as it is cast greatly.
Lesser Ward is not that powerful of a spell, but it was not important in the eyes of Marcus.
For him, he needs to learn about the fundamentals of it, and then he can improve from there.
"Good."
Marcus opened the book and started reading it.
The book was clear and simple.
Four hours later, he finished all the book. It did not have much of theoretical knowledge of it and just taught how to cast a simple ward.
It was to be expected from such a low-level spell, so Marcus was not that shocked about the lack of knowledge and information in the book.
"Good."
"Now..."
Marcus closed his eyes for a moment, and he focused on his hands and then focused on his Magicka to be focused on his hand and form a cone-like shield in front of him.
With a small sound, a barrier of magicka manifested from his hands and covered him.
"Great..."
"It only spends one magicka per second but still gives a great amount of defense."
"I am sure, if I were to hit that by that arrow, I got hit while I was travelling with that caravan..."
"It would just bounce back."
The theory of Wards is simple when one is starting, and it gets even more complex and more different than one would expect.
Wards are basically Magicka that is channeled outside of the body and forms a first-layer defense for the mage.
Defense against the spells and the physical damage.
If he were to cast a ward, a spell like Burden would have a pretty hard time entering his body in the first place.
But of course, this was only manageable if one was fighting against somewhat their equals.
If Falion wanted, he could cast the Burden on him and break his Ward with ease and still kill him.
The difference between the Magicka pool and power is so much that a simple ward is not nearly enough to block an attack from a powerful mage.
