(LIAM'S POV)
"Ever since that vampire took him, I haven't had a moment of peace since."
My eyes widened.
"Mom," I said slowly. "You knew? You knew Blue was a vampire?"
She looked at me, a sad smile crossing her face. "I knew from the moment I smelled him, Liam. Even though I look completely human, my elf nose still works perfectly well." She touched her nose, a bittersweet glint in her eyes. "That's one thing your father, Vaelion, couldn't take away from me."
Dylan stepped forward, his voice gentle. "Lisa, please don't worry about Mason. Blue is his mate. A supernatural being would never harm their true mate. It's against our very nature."
My mother's eyes widened. "His mate? Are you telling me the truth?"
Dylan nodded. "I swear on my life."
She let out a breath she seemed to have been holding for months. Her shoulders sagged with relief, and she clutched her chest like she could physically hold onto that hope.
But I wasn't relieved.
Not even close.
