Chapter 99 - Chapter 95- Even The Silent

[No wonder Shuri spoke so fondly of him.]

If Igor was like this, then she truly had no qualms leaving Issei with him. He was perfectly suited to be the big brother to their group of children.

Touji Shidou, high-ranking exorcist of the church and the leader of the Japanese branch in Kuoh. He was a veteran of the Skirmishes and had one disciple named Masaomi Yaegaki. That was all the current information Igor had on the man.

It was late afternoon with evening steadily approaching. Igor had felt Irina's glances every now and then on him. Before her glasses, he was as naked as the day he was born. His energy was suppressed, but there was little to nothing he could do for his level of existence. A fish and a whale did not have the same-sized heart, such was the difference between Mid-Class and High-Class. And his 'heart' perhaps beat loud enough to be heard.

[I should ask her how I look like to her. I'm very curious.]

Perhaps he was a blaze amidst candles. Either way, he supported Touji in giving Irina such an artifact. Not only did it ease her into the supernatural world, she could also avoid powerful threats in time.

[Maybe I could get something similar for Akeno.]

Lord knows she needs them. Her perception was abysmal. But capability would come with age.

"What has you so lost in thought, Igor?"

Mina asked curiously. She'd glanced up from her book to see him staring aimlessly.

"Nothing, Aunt Mina. Just thinking."

"Ohh~? Look at our philosopher here. Is it a special someone~?"

"..."

Igor didn't know whether to laugh or sigh. He could only reply helplessly.

"That's rather sudden, aunt."

"No it's not, Igor. How old are you now? Eighteen? Nineteen?"

"..."

Igor fell silent again. He felt some measure of discomfort discussing such a topic with Miki. By all accounts, they were casual acquaintances at best with only today being their first extended conversation.

"I'm seventeen, aunt."

"Well isn't that cheery~."

Miki was flush with enthusiasm. Such a handsome hunk like Igor was bound to attract more than a few eyes. It'd be waste for him to sit here like this when there were so many beautiful girls out.

"What do you think of that group over there?"

Igor followed her glance. Oddly, a few girls from Kuoh's highschool division still lingered in the park. A few wore thick woolly stockings beneath their skirts. Admittedly, their clique was very attractive and pleasant to look at, but he felt nothing more than appreciation.

"They are pretty."

"And? Anyone you like?"

"No."

Igor faced her and decided to stop this snowball before it could roll any further.

"I don't intend to take someone as my companion at the moment, aunt."

Miki didn't reply. She saw the seriousness in his eyes and silently realised that perhaps she was a bit too pushy in her excitement.

"What a shame. I was looking forward to some stories from you and all your 'escapades'."

Behind her words, Miki approved more of Igor. It was so rare to see a teenager so introspective and mature. If he continued to grow like this, she could see him making an honest woman out of a nice girl one day.

"You know, Igor? You're lucky I don't have a daughter. Otherwise I'd be doing everything I can to hitch her to you."

"?!"

Igor raised his eyebrows at that sudden left hook. Her words genuinely left him stunned so much his mouth gaped open.

"You…you rate me too highly, aunt."

"Oh please. It's one thing if Shuri speaks of you highly. You're an angel to her. But Touji? I've known the man for over ten years. If even he approves of you, I'd marry my daughter to you right here."

As…unexpected as this conversation was, Igor accepted the compliment.

"Thank you, aunt. I appreciate it greatly."

"Mn~. And speak of the devil and he'll arrive."

Igor faced the entrance and saw Touji walk in. Their eyes met and Igor found himself asking a daring question. Could he beat him?

"Look at him, Igor. Do you think he and his altar boys…you know?"

"?"

Miki nudged him, and Igor was lost for a moment. He pondered and immediately closed his eyes when realisation set, but it was too late. A smile already spread as he hid his face beneath his hand. Was this woman really a housewife or a pervert? And why would she joke with him? Touji undoubtedly heard everything.

The clack of formal shoes on concrete drew closer and closer. Touji was in semi-formal attire and wore reading glasses. He stepped off into the snowy grass and reached the duo seated on a bench.

"I've just arrived, and I can tell you're sweeping my dignity out the door, Miki. How Gorou handles you is beyond me."

"Fufu~."

Miki coyly laughed.

"Now, now. A priest isn't supposed to ask for matters of the bedroom. But if you want…?"

"No need."

Touji felt nausea creeping on. It was already enough that Gorou was a pervert. But his wife was just…she was unbelievable.

"Some days I ask myself why I still associate with you."

"Because I'm just that lovable, Touji. And you know it's thanks to my advice to your wife that you walk with an extra pep."

"I…you…"

Igor also felt flabbergasted. This woman was utterly unrestrained and didn't follow social norms.

"Igor. Let's go."

Touji held Igor's arm.

"Leave this woman alone here. She'll…infect you if you linger too long."

Igor stood up, perhaps a bit too eagerly. Miki chuckled and gave one last blow.

"I'll return the same words, Touji. Don't spend too long around him, Igor. If you smell a number two, run for the doors. Fufufu~."

"Come on, Igor. Let's go."

Touji had a very dark expression. He was more embarrassed than angry. Miki had a sharp and unrestrained tongue. He'd known that for years, yet she could still garner a reaction from him, especially given the church's biggest shame.
