IN WOLF FORM, MY SENSES ARE HEIGHTENED A THOUSAND FOLD.
The wind ripples against my fur. I hear every creak of tree branches for miles around. Smell every rabbit fleeing from our marauding path. Feel the loamy soil beneath my feet. I feel alive. Uncomplicated. The wolf exists in the present. He has no use for past or future, no concept of regret or dread. But he understands anticipation. And I'm anticipating seeing my mate tonight. Finding her warm, lush body in our bed and plundering her softness.
It's that thought which gets the wolf to loosen his grip. This time, at least. I break away from the pack. After bounding back from the depths of the forest to Dom Volka, I shift back into my human form. There's a change of clothes stashed by the back door.
