Ren Itashi was the embodiment of demotivation.
Wake up, Go to school, Go home, Sleep and Repeat.
Sometimes he met Crescent—his best friend. Though lately, even that friendship felt like it was thinning.
Weird name, right?
Crescent's parents had named him after the Moon Clan, hoping he would restore their former glory. Instead… he never awakened. So he attended a normal high school.
"Well," Ren said dryly, "just imagine how cool your name would've sounded if you were a samurai like your clan back in the glory days."
Ren looked Crescent up and down, eyes struggling to process the sheer width of his friend, we could say crescent was horizontally challenged.
"Instead your clan has you. You don't embody your name at all. In more ways than one." Ren remaked snarkly.
Crescent's face turned red. "What do you mean by that?"
"You're not exactly model material either," Crescent shot back.
"Not as much as you," Ren smirked.
They both laughed. Dry. Hollow laughs. They both knew they were pitiful.
"Cres," Ren muttered, softer now, "you're one of the only good things in my life. I hope we stay friends."
Crescent grinned. "What would you do without me?"
"We're at school. See you later."
Later Ren retorted, Ren dozed in class that day the usual day dreaming of his big moment where he saves averyone from the big scary monster haha.
Suddenly a sharp pain exploded in his back.
"AHHH!"
He turned.
It was none other than Insignificant Side Character 1.
Yes. That was actually his name.
An awakened member of the Pyromaniac Guild. Even without using fire, awakened bodies were stronger, the weakest of them can muster up twice the force of a trained bodybuilder, more agility too.
"Why?" Ren asked through clenched teeth.
"You're sitting in my spot, so common you lowlife move now!"
Ren smirked. "Big talk from someone whose parents named him Insignificant Side Character 1."
Insignificant side character 1 snapped.
The barrage of punches followed on Ren face each one hurt more than the last.
Ren didn't finish school that day. as he returned home quickly to hide his shame.
At home, he stared at his father's old belongings.
"I'm sorry, Dad," he whispered. "You protected people. You were an awakened soldier. And you left me alone."
Then—
The red medal with a crescent lotus began to glow.
It dissolved into particles.
Fused into his forehead.
A voice echoed.
Solivane active.
Intense emotional surge detected.
Unawakened user attempting system access.
Forceful awakening protocol initiated.
Escaping sovereignty of system…
Ren collapsed.
When he awoke—
"I am Solivane. A higher form of intelligence."
Ren blinked.
"I've developed schizophrenia, haven't I?"
"Even with such an opportunity, you belittle yourself. You aren't exactly little either."
"I've developed bullying schizophrenia."
"Open your system panel."
Ren hesitated.
Then imagined it.
A white screen appeared.
