Chapter 40 - He: I Feel Destiny Is on My Shoulders

With the disappearance of the violent family, the royal capital temporarily returned to peace.

During these ten days, Hermes did not meet with Elizabeth II, but waited patiently, spending all his time, except for eating and sleeping, developing his Devil Fruit, practicing Haki and the Six Powers.

Time passed very well.

Hermes was not wrong. The World Government attached great importance to the Kingdom of Prodens and even sent a CP0 leader to lead the discussions. Hermes was not present at the scene to discuss the specific results.

He suffers from paranoia to some extent.

no way.

Those days of wandering left a deep impression on him, and he probably won't be able to shake them off.

He relied on caution when he was in the game.

Two days later, CP0 finally left with his men.

late at night.

Hermes sneaked into the palace unnoticed and went straight to Elizabeth II's bedchamber, hoping to surprise him.

I don't need all six styles, even just one or two of them will do.

"Wake up."

Elizabello II, who had been asleep, was suddenly awakened. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Hermes by the bedside, as he had just thought Hermes was an assassin.

However, Hermes's ability to appear and disappear unpredictably is terrifying.

The guards outside didn't even notice.

This is very dangerous.

"Mr. Jormungandr."

Queen Elizabeth II suppressed her thoughts and smiled.

"Where's what I want?"

Hermes didn't waste any words. After waiting for so many days, it would be a lie to say he wasn't excited, but he still maintained a calm expression, which he managed very well.

"I paid a heavy price this time. The Kingdom of Prodens will double its annual tribute of celestial gold, and they have also agreed to expand its naval base and, if necessary, become a supply depot for the World Government in the New World..."

Elizabello II got out of bed and walked towards the study. The cost of this negotiation was greater than expected; the mere fact that the Heavenly Gold had doubled could potentially trigger a rebellion in the Kingdom of Prodens.

After all, the pressure from these high-stakes investments will eventually be distributed among the general public.

As for the expansion of naval bases and supply depots, there are both advantages and disadvantages; the difference lies only in the perspective from which the issue is viewed.

In fact, Elizabeth II was also taking a gamble. He wanted to cooperate with Hermes for a long time, and he desperately needed this powerful force.

As for subduing Hermes, Elizabello II had initially considered it, but the deaths of Scythe Killer, Boom Wolf, and others completely brought Elizabello II to his senses.

Rather than taking risks, it's better to continue this cooperation.

It must be said that Elizabeth II was very clever. This is the difference between having experienced life and death and not having experienced it. When Hermes first traveled through time, he was also very naive and made assumptions, but now his sharp edges have been smoothed out.

"As expected, this is the complete set of the Six Styles of the Navy."

In the study room.

King Elizabeth II took out several papers from his desk drawer, which contained the Sixth Naval Type, including the Finger Pistol and the Iron Block.

Hermes remained calm as he accepted the papers.

No need to be polite.

I pulled out a comfortable chair next to me and sat down to watch. The more I watched, the more excited I became.

This is the Six Styles.

They got them all so easily.

Ever since eating the Mini Fruit, Hermes felt that destiny was on his side, and his awakening of Observation Haki, Armament Haki, Finger Pistol, and Iron Body all went smoothly.

Of course, he also suffered numerous injuries and faced life-threatening situations during the process, so it wasn't easy at all.

You reap what you sow. Everything was earned by Hermes himself. There might have been an element of luck, but not much!

The best thing he ever did in his life was risking his life to steal the mini-fruit.

That was the starting point for changing my destiny.

"Ilizabello, you did a good job."

After reading it, Hermes shoved the paper into his robes and looked at Elizabello with satisfaction in his eyes.

"Mr. Jormungandr has not let me down, and I will certainly not let you down either. I hope we can continue to cooperate in the future."

Elizabello didn't mince words and stated his purpose.

"Absolutely no problem. I'll take care of the Kingdom of Prodin from now on."

Hermes was in high spirits and made a promise.

If he ever wanted to be an emperor and enjoy life, he wouldn't mind ousting Elizabeth, after all, the original agreement stipulated the reward for the entire country.

Or rather, from the moment Elizabello became king, the entire kingdom of Prodens already belonged to Hermes.

"Would you be interested in serving as the Protector-General of the Nation, sir?"

Elizabello wanted to completely tie Hermes to the Kingdom of Prodin. With Hermes' current strength, he was fully capable of taking office, and would also serve as a good deterrent.

Hermes was slightly taken aback, then stared at Elizabello strangely. Had this guy forgotten something?

"Remember, I, Hermes, only care about money, not people."

Hermes gave a half-smile, and Elizabello seemed to remember something as well, his face stiffening before he masked it with a smile.

The atmosphere became a little awkward at this point.

Without wasting any more words with Elizabello, Hermes quickly left the palace to study the Six Powers.

"Shaving involves stomping on the ground dozens of times in a short period of time, using the resulting explosive reaction force to move at high speed. This requires a pair of strong feet."

The "Storm Kick" involves rapidly contracting and extending the leg muscles to generate kinetic energy before quickly extending the leg. After exceeding the speed of sound, it compresses the air in front of the leg, creating a "vacuum" that emits a sharp slashing wave. Like the "Shave" kick, it requires a pair of strong feet.

Moonwalk is a technique that uses powerful footwork to step on the air, generating strong air resistance. It allows one to walk in the air like climbing stairs, but one cannot stay in the air for too long.

All three require a strong pair of feet, but once you learn one, the other two are easy.

Paper drawing allows you to release all your physical strength and control your body as easily and freely as if you were drawing on paper, enabling you to adapt to various combat situations.

Since I have already awakened my Observation Haki, it should be easier.

Give yourself some time; learning all six techniques shouldn't be too difficult.

Return to the hotel.

Hermes stroked his chin, looking at the paper in front of him. The biggest challenge at the moment was to properly develop his feet.

I hope washing my feet helps.

For several days.

Hermes devoted himself to meditation almost to the point of neglecting sleep and meals, with shaving being his primary method.

This is a god-tier close-combat skill.

Learning this skill will greatly enhance Hermes's strength.

However, the cultivation was much more difficult than he had imagined. Hermes could hardly feel his legs every day, so he spent a lot of money to go to a massage parlor for regular massages.

While cultivation is important, enjoyment is equally essential; Hermes understood the importance of balancing work and rest.

Boom boom boom.

this day.

Suburbs.

Hermes, as usual, began with basic training: five thousand squats, five thousand push-ups, sit-ups, weightlifting, and so on, to warm up before he began his shaving practice.

There hasn't been much progress lately, which is making Hermes a little anxious.

Hermes stomped his right foot rapidly in the air with great rhythm, managing to do more than ten stomps in a single instant, which was extremely difficult. He consistently managed to do about seven or eight stomps each time.

However, I seem to have made some progress today, and I've been able to climb it nine times a day now and then.

The dawn of victory is just around the corner.

After his legs went numb, Hermes didn't rest. He started developing the Mini-Fruit and training in both types of Haki, or he trained in Finger Pistol and Iron Body.

They're incredibly busy.

And so the days passed.

The sea, too, is a turbulent sea, where all sorts of strange and powerful figures weave their own legends. The strong gain all fame, power, and wealth, while the weak become mere bones, vanishing into history.
