Chapter 1: The Blood-Stained Moonlight
[The Beginning of the Nightmare]
In the lap of the mist-covered Nilgiri hills lies a tiny village named Madanpur. To a traveler, it looks like a paradise, but for the locals, it has become a living hell. For the last few months, peace has been a forgotten luxury.
Every full moon night, the village pays a blood tax. Someone goes missing, and by dawn, their mangled remains are found at the edge of the forest. It isn't the work of a common predator; it's something pæshachic—something demonic that doesn't just kill, but shreds the soul.
[The Warning]
Anik, a restless photographer obsessed with the macabre, arrived in Madanpur with his camera gear and a heart full of skepticism. He sought the "ultimate shot"—the truth behind the urban legend.
He took shelter in the village's only crumbling inn. The owner, a frail old man named Haran Babu, clutched Anik's wrist with trembling hands.
"It's a full moon tonight, son," he whispered, his eyes darting toward the shadows. "Do not open the windows. No matter what sounds you hear, no matter who calls your name—do not step outside."
Anik smirked, dismissing it as local superstition. "Don't worry, old man. I've seen enough to know ghosts don't exist."
[The Transformation]
Midnight struck. The sky was flooded with a hauntingly beautiful silver glow. Suddenly, a sound ripped through the silence—a long, agonizing howl. It wasn't a dog, nor a wolf. It sounded like a human throat being torn apart while trying to scream.
Driven by curiosity, Anik ignored the warning and crept into the forest. The stench of rotting meat hit him instantly. Through his telephoto lens, he saw a figure kneeling in a clearing.
His blood ran cold.
The man's spine was snapping—audible cracks that echoed in the silent woods. Thick black fur erupted through his skin, and his fingernails elongated into jagged, dagger-like claws. But the eyes... they were no longer human. They were two orbs of burning crimson fire.
"That's no ordinary animal," Anik whispered, his camera shaking. "It's a cursed soul."
[The Hunt]
Snap.
A dry twig broke under Anik's boot. The creature froze. In a blur of fur and muscle, the beast turned. Saliva dripped from its elongated jaw, mixed with the fresh blood of a previous kill. It had found a new prey.
Anik ran.
He could hear the heavy thuds of the beast behind him, the sound of branches snapping like toothpicks. Thorns tore at his skin, but the adrenaline kept him moving. Up ahead, an abandoned, moss-covered temple appeared. He dove inside, slamming the heavy wooden door and bolting it just as a massive weight crashed against the other side.
Scratch. Scratch. Scratch.
The door groaned. It wasn't going to hold. Panic rising, Anik's eyes scanned the dark temple. In the corner, glinting under a stray beam of moonlight, lay an ancient, silver-plated trident.
Silver. The only weakness.
[The Final Stand]
The door shattered into splinters. The massive beast lunged, its roar vibrating through Anik's very bones. With a desperate cry, Anik lunged forward, thrusting the silver trident with every ounce of strength he had left.
The weapon sank deep into the monster's chest.
A scream, so high-pitched it felt like it would burst Anik's eardrums, echoed through the hills. Slowly, the horrific form began to shrink. The fur receded; the claws softened. As the dust settled, Anik gasped in horror.
Lying in a pool of blood was not a monster, but the lifeless, withered body of Haran Babu.
[The Aftermath]
The next morning, the village found their innkeeper. Anik fled Madanpur before the sun was high. But when he checked his camera, his heart sank. The memory card was empty. Every photo, every proof of that night—gone.
But something else remained.
A deep, jagged scratch mark on his palm from the struggle. Now, as the days pass, Anik notices his senses sharpening. His hair is growing thicker, his hunger for meat becoming primal.
The next full moon is approaching. And this time, Anik isn't the one holding the camera.
[Author's Note]
The curse didn't die with Haran Babu. It only found a new host. What will Anik do when the moon rises again? Stay tuned for Chapter 2
