Chapter 1 - My time is up

Nikita groggily silenced her screaming alarm, burying her face in her pillow like it was a shield. Ten minutes later, the blasted thing went off again. This time, she jolted up, panic setting in. "Sh*t, first day at work. I can't be late!" She scrambled out of bed, dashing to the bathroom, reheating yesterday's jollof in the microwave, and scrambling into her outfit. "7:20, don't come for me oo!" She bolted out the door with half-done hair and all.

As she hurried down the street, Nikita's outfit was a work in progress, leaving a trail of bewildered onlookers in her wake. A concerned citizen, probably trying to be helpful, called out, "Excuse me, ma'am, I think you're... um... not fully dressed." Nikita flashed a breezy smile, not breaking stride. "Ma'am, thanks, but I'm aware, trust me. People need to stop staring stupidly. I'm running late, gotta go!" She waved dismissively, zipping up her skirt as she power-walked away.

" Wow, tough huh! Let's see about that" was the sassiest comment, said in a thick Ghanian accent. The woman, not thinking twice, posted the video on social media, captioning it "Uncivilized walking dressing lady". And oh, it went viral.

The universe was about to throw Nikita a curveball. The video exploded online, and suddenly everyone was an expert on her wardrobe malfunctions. "Uncivilized walking dressing lady" trended, and people were losing it. The comments ranged from brutal to hilarious, but one thing was for sure - Nikita's first day was now the talk of the town. And she still had no idea.

Nikita smoothed her outfit, relieved she'd made it without further incident. As she stepped into the McCartney Group of Companies lobby, the security guard greeted her with a broad grin. "Welcome to McCartney, ma'am," he said, clearly fighting back a chuckle. Nikita's brow furrowed. what's so funny? Little did she know, her morning chaos had gone viral.

She approached the reception desk, still oblivious to the online storm brewing. "Good morning, I'm Nikita, new in the marketing team," she said with a smile. The receptionist's eyes widened, and she hastily picked up the phone. "HR, there's... um... someone here to see you." Nikita's smile faltered. What was going on? The receptionist's awkward glance didn't help. "I'll, uh, get someone to show you up."

A perky HR representative appeared, beaming awkwardly at Nikita. "Hi! Welcome to McCartney! Let's get you settled in, shall we?" As they headed to the elevator, Nikita noticed whispers and giggles from colleagues. "Uh, is there a party or something?" she asked, getting a weird look from HR. "No, no party. Just... just a big day, I guess." The elevator doors opened on the 10th floor, and a sea of faces turned toward her. Nikita's confusion deepened.

The HR rep's smile turned crimson, and she blurted, "Uh, maybe we should get you to your desk first?" Nikita's disturbance turned to curiosity. "No, tell me now. What's going on?" She scanned the room, eyes landing on a phone screen pointed her way. Suddenly, a projector screen flicked on behind her, displaying the viral video. The room erupted into laughter, and Nikita's face turned bright red. The video had reached her workplace.

Nikita's eyes narrowed. The room fell silent, expecting her to be mortified. Instead, Nikita burst out laughing, shaking her head.

"Guess some folks have nothing better to do than watch strangers dress."

she chuckled, making light of the viral sensation she'd become. The office erupted into cheers and applause. She'd won them over with her killer sense of humor. The young lady who showed her the video grinned. "You're a legend, Nikita! Welcome to the team!"

The boss's presence commanded attention, and the room fell silent. "Is this how we welcome new staff?" he asked, eyes scanning the room. The financial secretary whispered, "We're gonna pay for this." But Nikita smiled inwardly, she'd made a hit. The boss's expression softened. "Actually, I think it's a great way to break the ice. Welcome to the team, Nikita. You're gonna fit right in." The tension lifted, and the room chuckled, sensing a new vibe in the office.

The boss turned to the team, a hint of mischief in his voice. "Alright, let's get one thing clear, if you're not as punctual as Nikita, don't worry, we'll just make a viral star out of you too." The team laughed, and the ice was well and truly broken. "Now, let's get Nikita settled in and show her what we're all about." As the meeting dispersed, the financial secretary leaned in, whispering, "You might just be the best thing that's happened to our productivity... or the end of it." Nikita grinned, she was gonna like this place.

As Nikita followed her guide to her new workstation, the office buzzed with whispers and curious glances. Her phone pinged, it was a text from an unknown number:

"Welcome to the team, superstar! "

She chuckled, guessing it was the young lady who'd shown her the video earlier. Settling into her chair, she got a tour of the office perks, a ping-pong table, coffee machine, and a view of the city. Her guide, a chatty designer named Rebecca Tom, leaned i with a mischievous glink in her eyes . "So, what's the plan? Make more viral videos to boost our marketing?" Nikita raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

McCartney's company operates on two main fronts,

The lower ower sector which transforms raw materials into finished products.

The Upper sector are specializes in gaming, design, and software engineering.

Nikita's eyes moved between the sectors, her mind ticking with possibilities. "So, where does marketing fit in?" she asked Rebecca Tom, curious about her role. Rebecca smiled. "Good question, marketing's the bridge between the two. We connect production with the tech-savvy world of gaming and design." Nikita nodded, intrigued by the dynamic setup. "Sounds like a challenge I can dig into."

Rebecca Tom leaned in, a hint of excitement in her voice. "Exactly why we need fresh eyes like yours. We've got a big push coming up. We are launching a new gaming app tied to one of our production lines." Nikita's ears perked up. "App sounds interesting. What's the game about?" Rebecca grinned. "It's an eco-adventure where players build sustainable cities using real-world products from our lower sector. Gonna be big."

Nikita's eyes lit up. "Eco-adventure, huh? Sounds like a great way to blend sustainability with gaming. What's the target audience?" Rebecca Tom nodded, pulling up the campaign docs. "Young adults in Ghana and beyond. we're focusing on urban sustainability challenges. The goal's to educate and engage, plus drive interest in our eco-friendly products." Nikita leaned in, ideas sparking. "I got some ideas and iwant to brainstorm?"

Rebecca Tom's face lit up. "Hell yeah, let's hear it!" Nikita leaned in, "We could tie the game to real-life challenges in Ghana's cities, like waste management or green spaces. Gamify solutions, maybe partner with local influencers to amplify it." Rebecca nodded fast. "Love it. And we could use the game's success to push our sustainable products in the local market." Nikita smiled and said this was gonna be fun.

The two of them dived into brainstorming, ideas bouncing back and forth. "We should do a launch event, maybe a hackathon to get the community involved," Nikita suggested. Rebecca Tom's eyes sparkled. "Perfect and we can showcase the game at the Accra Tech Summit next month." Nikita jotted down notes. "I'll start working on the promo strategy. When's the game ready?" Rebecca checked the timeline. "Beta launch in three weeks. Think you can make it happen?" Nikita grinned. "Challenge accepted."

They wrapped up, ideas safely logged in the project software. "Tomorrow, we crush this," Rebecca Tom said with a fist bump. Nikita smiled, gathering her things. "Sounds like a plan." As they parted ways, the office quietened. "Tomorrow's big push was gonna be epic."
