Chapter 1 - Charlie Conoway Part 1

"Class, tomorrow, there will be an extra period"

"Therefore, do remember to get your parents' on the diary given to you, otherwise, you will not be permitted to attend the extra period"

That was the last class of Tuesday and the first & only announcement. Class 6-E of Neverdon Academy were positively excited and curious for what was about to come. When the teacher, Mrs.Waletz, a middle-aged woman in her 40s, dawning a white-on-black stripped dress shirt and a long brown skirt, took her leave, the class became alive with a collective sound of conversations among the students. The class consisted of children aged around 13–14-year-olds, so keeping the volume down when there are no teachers present in the room was quite the difficult task to accomplish.

"So, are you going to attend the extra period" said Verona Waltz, a red-heard with green eyes. She is quite the social butterfly-kind and I don't know why she would even consider talking to me, but, there she is walking all the way from her front-bench peers and coming here to talk to me.

"Well, I... I hope, they hope they allow me to attend" …I muttered under my breath.

[Though, I really hope they won't sign, so, that I can successfully escape the on-coming social prison]

"If you come, I'll be very happy and may be this time I'll finally be able to introduce you to my group...I don't know why, every time, I look for you when I'm with my group…. you just vanish into thin air"

She looked to my face with her one eyebrow raised while speaking.

"Well, I think because I'm so great of a background character maybe I really... va… vanish into the crowd" I mustered up my courage with a little fumble to give her an excuse.

"We'll see" Verona said with a devious smile.

To be honest, I was awestruck for a moment and then, she left.

Finally, I was in my safe space which is, if you can guess by now, is my solitude.

Some periods went by and time flew as usual and it was near the end of school for that day. As the clock struck 3:20 pm, it was finally time to leave for home.
