Chapter 10 - Chapter 9 — Rumors in the City

The dungeon door of the Forgotten Crypt slowly sealed behind them.

A golden notification screen still floated in the air.

[First Clear Bonus Granted]

[Rare Equipment Acquired]

[Reputation Increased]

SilverLune stretched her arms and laughed happily.

"Okay… that was amazing."

Her live chat was still exploding with messages.

"FIRST CLEAR!!"

"CLIP THIS MOMENT"

"KAI MVP"

Kai quietly checked the items inside his inventory.

In the previous timeline, the Forgotten Crypt had been cleared by a five-man party on the fourth day of the game.

But now?

Two players.

And one of them was only Level 9.

Another timeline change.

Kai closed the inventory window.

Things are moving faster.

SilverLune walked beside him, her silver hair glowing faintly in the torchlight of the dungeon corridor.

She looked at him curiously.

"You're really calm."

Kai glanced at her.

"About what?"

"About clearing a dungeon that most players can't even survive."

Kai shrugged slightly.

"I just focused on the fight."

SilverLune laughed.

"You say it like it's normal."

Kai didn't reply.

Because to him… it was normal.

He had already fought monsters much stronger than this.

In arenas watched by millions of viewers.

In the brutal finals of the Eternum Global Championship.

But those memories belonged to a future that hadn't happened yet.

SilverLune suddenly stopped walking.

"Wait."

Kai looked at her.

"What?"

She opened her streaming interface.

"Chat is saying something weird."

Kai frowned slightly.

"What kind of weird?"

Her chat messages were scrolling rapidly.

"YOU'RE TRENDING"

"CITY PLAYERS ARE TALKING ABOUT YOU"

"FIRST CLEAR NEWS SPREADING"

SilverLune blinked.

"Apparently… people in the city already know about the dungeon clear."

Kai's eyes narrowed slightly.

That was fast.

Too fast.

The dungeon system normally took at least an hour to broadcast the achievement.

Unless…

Someone was watching closely.

Kai remained silent.

"Let's go back to the city," he said calmly.

SilverLune nodded.

"Yeah, I also want to check the item market."

Return to the City

The teleport gate shimmered with blue light.

A moment later, the two of them appeared in the central plaza of the starting city in Eternum Online.

The plaza was crowded.

Dozens of players were trading equipment, forming parties, and shouting for dungeon groups.

But the moment Kai and SilverLune appeared…

Several players looked toward them.

One whispered.

"Is that them?"

Another player pointed.

"Yeah, that's the girl from the stream."

SilverLune blinked.

"Uh… why are people staring at us?"

Kai already knew the answer.

Because the first clear message had already spread.

And rumors always moved faster than facts.

A group of players approached them.

One of them spoke excitedly.

"Hey! Are you the ones who cleared the Forgotten Crypt?"

SilverLune scratched her cheek awkwardly.

"Uh… yeah?"

The players immediately began talking over each other.

"You guys did it with only two people??"

"What level are you?"

"Did you get rare drops?"

Kai sighed quietly.

This was exactly what he expected.

In the early days of Eternum Online, any first clear attracted massive attention.

Especially when the team was unknown.

SilverLune laughed nervously.

"Sorry everyone, we just got lucky."

The players didn't believe that at all.

Another voice came from behind the crowd.

"Well, luck alone doesn't clear a dungeon."

The crowd slowly parted.

A tall player wearing polished armor stepped forward.

His username floated above his head.

IronFang

Level 12.

Kai's eyes narrowed slightly.

In his previous life, IronFang had been the leader of one of the earliest competitive guilds.

Not a villain.

But definitely ambitious.

IronFang looked at Kai carefully.

"So… you're Kai?"

Kai nodded calmly.

"Yeah."

IronFang crossed his arms.

"Two players clearing Forgotten Crypt is impressive."

SilverLune smiled.

"Thanks."

IronFang looked between the two of them.

"You guys planning to compete?"

SilverLune tilted her head.

"Compete?"

IronFang seemed surprised.

"You don't know?"

Kai spoke quietly.

"The tournament."

IronFang nodded.

"Exactly."

He pointed toward a massive holographic screen in the center of the plaza.

A new system announcement appeared.

[Global Announcement]

The First Qualifier Tournament for the Eternum Global Championship will begin in three days.

Players across the plaza began shouting excitedly.

"Tournament already??"

"That's fast!"

"Prize pool must be insane!"

SilverLune's eyes widened.

"Wait… already?"

Kai looked up at the screen silently.

In the previous timeline, the announcement had happened one week later.

Another change.

IronFang continued speaking.

"Top teams from the qualifiers will advance to regional finals."

He looked directly at Kai.

"And eventually…"

He pointed at the glowing logo on the holographic screen.

The symbol of the Eternum Global Championship.

"The world championship."

SilverLune crossed her arms thoughtfully.

"That sounds fun."

Her chat instantly exploded.

"JOIN THE TOURNAMENT"

"DUO TEAM"

"WE WANT TO SEE IT"

She laughed.

"You guys are too excited."

IronFang smiled slightly.

"If you two join… it will definitely be interesting."

Kai stayed silent.

Inside his mind, memories from the future resurfaced.

The brutal battles.

The roaring crowd.

The final arena where he had fought his last match.

The match where everything ended.

Because of one man.

Victor Hale.

Kai looked back at the tournament announcement.

This time…

The story will be different.

SilverLune suddenly nudged his shoulder.

"So?"

Kai looked at her.

She grinned.

"Want to enter the tournament together?"

Kai stared at her for a moment.

In the previous timeline, she had joined a different team.

They had become rivals.

And later… allies.

But now?

Everything was changing.

Kai slowly smiled.

"Yeah."

SilverLune clapped her hands.

"Nice!"

Her chat exploded again.

"DUO TEAM CONFIRMED"

"TOURNAMENT ARC STARTS"

"LET'S GO"

IronFang laughed.

"Well then."

"I'll see you in the qualifiers."

He turned and walked away with his teammates.

The plaza slowly returned to normal.

SilverLune looked up at the holographic tournament banner again.

Her eyes sparkled with excitement.

"This is going to be huge."

Kai nodded slowly.

"Yes."

But his expression remained calm.

Because he knew something SilverLune didn't.

The tournament wasn't just about winning.

It was also where powerful corporations began scouting players.

And somewhere far away…

In a luxurious office filled with glowing monitors…

A man watched the player data from Eternum Online.

One monitor focused on a specific name.

Kai Ren.

The man leaned back in his chair.

"Interesting…"

An assistant spoke beside him.

"Sir, should we contact this player?"

The man shook his head slowly.

"Not yet."

He looked at the tournament announcement on the screen.

"Let him play."

His smile was faint.

"But keep watching."

Because deep down…

Something about this player felt strangely familiar.

Back in the city plaza, SilverLune stretched her arms.

"Alright partner."

She grinned at Kai.

"Time to train."

Kai looked at the glowing tournament banner once more.

Three days until the qualifiers.

Three days until the first step toward the Eternum Global Championship.

Three days until the future began to change.

Kai closed his inventory window and turned toward the training arena.

"Let's get stronger."

SilverLune smiled.

"Now that's the spirit."

And above the city skyline, the tournament banner shimmered brightly.

The next stage of the game had begun.
