Solaris looked over at Ember, watching for a moment. He had no way of fighting; the shards were not as helpful without his sword.
Seeing the boy staring at him, Ember shouted.
"What are you doing? Here come help me!"
Ember flung his wrist, and a small sword of bone slid out from his wrist. The blade flew at Solaris. Seeing the blade flying at him, he moved the shards into an X and wrapped the corners around the blade.
He had not trusted himself in his current state to catch the blade.
Moving his hands, he wipes his eyes and focuses on the blade before him.
Taking a quick yet deep breath, he grabbed the blade and willed the shards holding it to line the edges, and make the blade slightly longer. The once white bone blade now had a shiny black and gold edge.
As the weapon finished being coated, Solaris moved the shards at his feet, and by using the blade shards, he now had relatively controlled flight.
Shooting forward, Solaris brought the blade to an angle, targeting the hyena demon, as it was about to thrust its golden halberd into Ember's back.
Using nothing but the momentum of the flight, Solaris targeted the wings. As he grew closer, the hyena began to move, and so did the bone blade.
With a flash of gold, the halberd moved at Ember. Spotting the impending doom, Ember placed his arm behind his back, and a large mace made of bone emerged. The bone looked like it had a shining black coating. Using the mace Ember, deflected the halberd, and in the same motion, brought the mace down on the beaked abomination.
With perfect timing, Solaris dashed in and dealt a blow to the right wing of the hyena; the wing was cut, but still attached. A disgusting growl escaped from the hyena's maw
Shifting his feet up, Solaris turned for another attack, bringing the blade down from above.
The hyena flapped its wings once and pushed back, narrowly dodging the attack. However, it left Solaris open for a counterattack, as the halberd was on its descent down to Solaris' back, he took the momentum from the initial swing and kept following through, forcing his body to do a full three hundred sixty degree spin.
This simple move put the hyena once again on defense.
As Solaris finished his attack and dodged the bone mace, he collided with the spear of the beaked demon. The initial strike caused the demon to slightly move down, its wing being pushed up by the force of the strike.
Finding himself once again looking down at the hyena, Solaris moved the blade into an angled slash and brought the weapon down. As he did, the bone sword sliced the wing, severing a great deal of it. This caused the hyena to begin to fall. As it did, it grabbed Solaris's leg and forced the golden halberd up, stabbing into his side, the blade of the small spike passed into his skin and through his muscle, yet due to his bones, the blade was stopped.
"AGAHHHHHHH!!!"
Pain surged through Solaris's body. He felt as the blade scraped across his bone before sliding out, a hole left in its wake. Solaris's vision faded for a moment before returning his mind clear and no longer frightened of the demon; he now had a goal: kill this bastard.
Swinging the blade, Solaris cleanly severed the hand of the demon, sending him to the ground. They were a great deal up in the air, so Solaris had ample opportunity to help with the bird Demon, yet as he turned his vision to the other opponent, he only saw Ember; the demon was missing.
He felt his heart skip a beat.
Quickly, his eyes began searching for the beast before spotting the abomination. It had dashed off to grab its comrade as it fell, seeing that it was not going to splat onto the ground. Solaris felt a rage building as he was about to dash off when a sudden bright light lit up the sky.
Looking over, he had slightly covered his eyes, and he spotted Ember, his obsidian wings bathed in fire, and his arm above his head, his other supporting it, above his head, a massive ball of fire sat, it grew bigger and bigger by the moment.
"DIE!"
clenching his hand into a fist, the ball of fire shrank into a small ball of pure light and sat above his index finger. His arm then shot down, and the escaping demons flew just above the lake.
With a flash of light, the incredibly bright ball disappeared.
Below them, the demons above the lake dashed away with incredible speed, the bird holding the hyena in its arms, as they disappeared out of sight within an instant, it was clear to Solaris that they had only been playing with them.
Fuck, that wasn't even a real fight.
As this thought passed his mind and the creatures disappeared, so did the lake, in a blinding flash of light. A colossal explosion completely eviscerated the lake, as well as much of the surrounding landscape.
"Was that a nuke?"
Solaris said as his eyes were growing heavy.
Ember had a furious snarl on his face, turning to see Solaris. He watched as he shifted and then fell, the shards retreating into his body.
Spotting him fall, Ember dashed over quickly, grabbing Solaris. His body had lost consciousness; the battle had taken everything he had.
