Chapter 70 - Chapter 10: The Leviathan’s Chapter

The Iron Lung shuddered violently.

Metal groaned as the massive shape of the Leviathan circled the submarine in the darkness of the Iron Ocean. Outside the reinforced viewport, the creature's enormous eye drifted past like a drifting moon, watching the tiny vessel with unsettling awareness.

Inside the ship, every alarm was screaming.

Petra gripped the control console.

"Brace!"

The Leviathan lunged.

The ocean outside exploded with movement as its colossal body twisted around the submarine. The spiraling maw opened wide, revealing the glowing narrative core deep inside its throat.

Dave felt the Reader's Viewpoint ignite inside his mind.

Threads burst outward.

Stories.

Possibilities.

Endings.

The creature's narrative appeared before him like a massive scroll stretching into the abyss.

Simon's voice trembled slightly.

"…its story is enormous."

Dave focused.

"…then we cut it shorter."

Jack shouted through the comm.

"Dave! It's going to swallow us!"

Petra slammed the thrusters.

The Iron Lung jerked sideways just as the Leviathan's jaws snapped shut where the submarine had been.

The shockwave slammed the vessel against the ocean current.

Dave barely held onto the railing.

"…Petra!"

"I see it!"

She maneuvered the ship through the dark waters, using the trench walls for cover.

But the Leviathan was too large.

Too fast.

Its shadow stretched across the seabed like a moving mountain.

Simon whispered again.

"…that glowing core is the center of its narrative."

Dave narrowed his eyes.

"…meaning if I use Final Chapter Authority there…"

Simon finished the thought.

"…you might force its story to end."

Jack spoke quickly.

"…okay, but how do we shoot a story-ending laser into a fish the size of a continent?"

Dave looked at Petra.

"…we don't shoot it."

Petra understood instantly.

"You want to get closer."

Jack groaned.

"…why do your plans always involve getting closer to the monster?"

Another violent impact shook the submarine.

The Leviathan's massive tail struck the ocean floor nearby, sending shockwaves through the water.

Warning lights flickered across the control panel.

Petra's voice stayed calm.

"Pressure levels rising."

Dave stepped beside her.

"…can you bring us directly in front of its mouth?"

Jack screamed through the communicator.

"NO!"

Petra stared at Dave for a moment.

Then she nodded.

"…I survived one encounter with that thing."

"…let's see if I survive two."

She slammed the thrusters forward.

The Iron Lung surged toward the Leviathan.

Outside the viewport, the colossal creature turned slowly.

It saw the submarine approaching.

Its massive mouth opened again.

The spiraling teeth rotated slowly around the glowing core deep inside.

The Leviathan's voice pressed into their minds again.

"SMALL STORY."

"YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE END."

Dave raised his hand.

Golden threads of narrative energy began forming around his fingers.

The power given by the Constellation of Final Chapters ignited.

The Reader's authority over endings.

Simon whispered urgently.

"…be careful."

"…forcing the ending of such a large narrative may damage your own story."

Dave didn't hesitate.

"…worth it."

Jack shouted.

"Petra! We're flying into its mouth!"

Petra grinned slightly.

"…yeah."

"…I noticed."

The Leviathan lunged again.

The submarine raced directly toward the spiraling jaws.

For a moment—

Everything slowed.

The Iron Lung drifted between the rotating rings of teeth like a tiny insect entering the throat of a giant.

And there—

The glowing narrative core burned like a miniature sun.

Dave stepped forward.

"…found it."

Simon whispered.

"…that core contains the creature's purpose."

The Leviathan spoke again.

"THE SURFACE STORY IS WRONG."

Dave answered quietly.

"…then let's rewrite it."

He thrust his hand forward.

The power of Final Chapter Authority erupted from his palm.

Golden threads shot forward into the glowing core.

The ocean around them exploded with light.

The Leviathan screamed.

Not physically.

Narratively.

Its story began unraveling.

Lines of ancient text appeared around its massive body, floating through the ocean like broken pages.

Jack stared in disbelief.

"…holy—"

Petra struggled to keep the submarine steady.

"Something's happening to it!"

Dave pushed harder.

The golden threads forced themselves deeper into the core.

The system appeared in his vision.

Final Chapter Authority Activated

Target Narrative: Leviathan of the Iron Ocean

Status: Resisting Conclusion

Dave clenched his teeth.

"…of course it is."

The Leviathan's voice roared inside their minds.

"MY STORY DOES NOT END."

The creature's massive body twisted violently.

The ocean trench cracked beneath its movements.

Simon's voice grew urgent.

"…Dave!"

"…its narrative isn't just destruction!"

Dave froze slightly.

"…what?"

Simon's voice echoed inside his mind.

"…the Leviathan believes it is correcting the world."

Dave stared at the glowing core.

Inside it—

Images appeared.

Ancient oceans.

A broken planet.

A civilization that had nearly destroyed everything.

The Leviathan had been created as a guardian.

A living correction to prevent the world from repeating the same mistake.

Jack whispered.

"…so the apocalypse fish thinks it's saving the planet?"

Dave exhaled slowly.

"…exactly."

Petra looked back at him.

"…does that change anything?"

Dave stared at the narrative core.

The story wasn't evil.

It was simply wrong.

"…no."

He pushed the threads deeper.

The golden light intensified.

The system flashed again.

Narrative Conflict Detected

Leviathan's Ending Approaching

The creature screamed again.

The ocean shook violently.

Huge cracks split the seabed as its massive body convulsed.

Petra struggled to keep the Iron Lung stable.

"Dave! If this thing collapses the trench we're dead!"

Dave focused everything he had.

The final threads of narrative energy pierced the core.

The Leviathan's voice faded into a distant echo.

"IF THE STORY ABOVE IS WORTH SAVING…"

"…PROVE IT."

The glowing core shattered.

A massive pulse of light erupted through the ocean.

The Leviathan's body went still.

Slowly—

The colossal creature began sinking into the depths.

The ocean became quiet.

The Iron Lung drifted silently above the trench.

Dave lowered his hand.

Jack spoke first.

"…did we just kill it?"

Simon whispered softly.

"…not exactly."

Dave looked at the fading glow below.

"…I ended its mission."

Petra stared at the dark ocean.

"…it chose to stop."

The Leviathan's massive form disappeared into the abyss.

The ocean grew calm again.

Inside the submarine, the alarms slowly stopped.

Jack exhaled loudly.

"…okay."

"…that was the scariest fish fight in human history."

Dave leaned against the wall, exhausted.

But the Reader's Viewpoint suddenly pulsed again.

A new constellation message appeared.

Constellation "Persephone" speaks:

You faced the guardian of the underworld.

And you did not destroy it.

You changed its ending.

Dave frowned.

"…wait."

Simon whispered quietly.

"…that means the story continues."

Far beneath the ocean—

The Leviathan's eye opened again.

Not hostile.

Watching.

Waiting.

Its story had changed.

But it had not ended.

And somewhere far away—

The Unfinished Author began writing new sentences in the sky.

To be continued…
