A few days pass as I start studying her Attribute. Its very complex but from what I see, by enhancing the Essence seeing Goggles I can see the threads of essence much more intrinsically.
"interesting.." I say as I compare it between memories and her strings, zooming in and out with my newly upgraded goggles.
Over the days I happen to recognize a few key differences. While the threads in memories are interwoven string, hers is an silk, one continuous line. "Like that Moth carriers make" (a nightmare creature that has moth like features)
And through that, I was able to mimic it to a certain extent. with some elbow greese and trial and error, I was able to inlay the first basic memory.
Sure, its not intricate, sure its barely a memory, but its still the first step in a whole new direction. I summon and unsummon the metal band I made, something to small for my hand but perfect on my wrist. I summon it on my wrist then off. I continue figuring out how far I can summon and unsummon it but realise any alteration makes it fall apart easily. Not to mention I've been using her essence as a place holder, and even though she has a maxed out core, its not as endless as mine.
I give her a break and sit down. I decide to try and create a runic enchanted item that weaves essence strings.
Runic sorcery is based on shaper sorcery, the sorcery of speech. What runic sorcery does however is turn the sorcery of speech into written words, making it possible for anyone to become adept. 'the only thing is though, is the high bar for such a sorcery.'
It is said that runic sorcery would take a millennia to master, and that's with an adequate teacher. With how closed off information is, its almost impossible to be adept in runic sorcery especially.
'but I'm special~' not really, but technically speaking through trial and error, and through my first nightmares experiences I eventually figured it out. Through complex and cheesy mechanisms. I had an old man in my first nightmare who was able to figure out a root for a word, then manipulated the symbols around it to create new words. an example would be like, light, to fire, to lightning, he was able to create a complex set of mechanics. But I being from the modern world, was more than capable of taking and advancing the method, not only creating more meanings but less symbols.
Through this, I figured out sensing with runic magic, an through glass, I was able to 'perceive' essence in its purest form through the runic circles i then created.
What I'm doing now is trying to figure out the chaining to 'weave' a way to make threads of essence without Lucy's attribute.
'master taught me the roots of 2 chains, I learnt about 4 other root symbols, I just need to chain long enough.
I figured through 'trigger' a root word, it could be chained to Weave.
Trigger, trace, flow, pattern, thread.
I try to use the rune of 'thread' from the chaining. Through that I was able to make a simple thread, but.. The thread couldn't be woven. So I tried combining the 'pattern' rune and 'thread' rune, and as I did, I was able to create a working essence thread supplied with my own essence! Though, through some more testing, I couldn't make it into a 'circuit' like the one in the memory, all it was, was a basic thread of essence.
'hmmm' I continue spectating both of them through the enchanted lens, seeing what the difference was. 'I keep thinking of it as a circuit.. But they wouldn't have circuits back then..' I missed a single piece due to me being a modern being.
"what am I missing…" I grab my head in frustration and groan loudly, frightening Lucy for a moment.
'think Luke, Think!' circuits wasn't an existing concept back then, so why do they look so intrinsically like circuits? Enchantments were already an existing sorcery so what or how is THIS sorcery possible?
I slam my hand against my table and get up, stunning Lucy again, who starts getting pissed off by my clones being everywhere.
I go and have a fist fight with Redscales. No armor, no weapons, no charms, and no technique.
Its like feeling the satisfaction of a clean blow, while also the anger and frustration of getting hit when each punch lands. But it slowly clears my frustrated mind.
"sorcery, was made by the demons." Thornhelm mutters while looking through the written notes.
The Demon of Fate the oldest. Weaver
The Demon of Desire. The creator of writing and runic sorcery. Hope
The Demon of Choice/Destiny. Ruler of the Underworld. Nether
The Demon of Dread. Keeper of Truths. Ariel
Demon of Imagination. Mirage.
Demon of Repose. Rime.
"seventh. The demon of Oblivion." the forgotten one that I also forgot.
'we don't know the origins of Shaper magic, but thanks to Saint Cassia, who learnt from Noctis, that the demon of Desire created Runic Magic.'
So its either the Demons, or the gods. 'But of which origin is the original…'
War God
Beast God
Sun God
Storm God
Shadow God
Heart God
"no god has made a type of sorcery either.." Thornhelm looks at Silverworn who spoke up.
"but they did create symbols in some citadels?" Thornhelm rebutted
"but it's not a learnable thing is it?" Silverworn replied casually.
Meanwhile, Redscales and the main-body were sore and tired, now lying on the floor. "this is exhausting.."
I get up and equip regenerative gear to heal up. I also send Redscales out to go back to living in the wilderness, feeling like I'm growing too soft. I walk back in, shower and go back to chaining.
Now I continue chaining in longer but it feels like I'm getting less mechanical and more based on.. Textiles?
"lets see.." the ancient pass, didn't have technology like ours, so textiles were the most advanced compared to the modern world..
"is that why the Nightmare Spell which is equivalent to Spell Tech is closely tied to Textiles?"
"than who on earth.." a name popped up in his head.
"Weaver?" why Weaver?
Lucy now thoroughly irritated calls a raincheck and leaves, at my eccentric behavior. because apparently, "you move like you have ADHD and can do things all at once!"
I don't mind since I'm close to figuring things out.
"the Demon of Fate, the master of lies.." why Him..
"weaver is literally in the name." Silverworn replied.
"but how would he create memories?" Thornhelm asked back.
"why would he create memories?" the main body also questions.
"and how is it linked to the nightmare spell?" Silverworn asks as well.
"hmmm…." they all grab their chin.
"lets try the enchantment rune of weaving then."
They try it anyway, and somehow, through some unknown understanding, a connection and transmutation of sorcery is formed!
=======================
I love Shadow Slave and the idea of weaving but sometimes, i feel like it just isn't explored enough you know? like Sunny who is able to make supreme memories doesn't just because? and how does the Nightmare Spell create a memory as well as having a shard? does it act like a parasite, stealing shards the creature already consumed? this is why i love weaving but dislike the plot being a get out of jail card.
