Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 – Academy Life Begins

Canaan Academy sprawled across the mountains like a fortress of knowledge and power. Students of all ages trained rigorously, their auras and energies vibrant and intense. Lin Shen, calm and observant, walked quietly among them, noting the strength, style, and flaws of each cultivator he passed.

He did not compete in the early exercises or public tests. Instead, he spent hours in the alchemy halls, practicing flame manipulation and energy circulation. His Sun–Moon Physique allowed him to maintain perfect Yin–Yang balance, and the World Tree inside him absorbed ambient energy, stabilizing the chaotic flows from experiments and helping him grow silently but steadily.

Though young, Lin Shen's intelligence was apparent. He noticed patterns in cultivation techniques, predicting the outcomes of exercises before others even began. He also observed rivalries among students, recording their tendencies and weaknesses. Small disputes and competitions became data points, feeding into his mental map of the academy.

One afternoon, a minor Heavenly Flame fragment appeared in a secluded courtyard—a rare phenomenon, but one the academy overlooked. Lin Shen observed from the shadows, analyzing its movement and heat. With a thought, a root from his World Tree extended subtly, stabilizing a portion of its energy. The flame responded to his control, small sparks dancing along the silver-gold root. No one noticed.

He realized early that brute strength and flashy cultivation were less important than intelligence, observation, and strategy. Flames, techniques, and even powerful opponents could be manipulated indirectly. Each controlled fragment added energy to the World Tree and experience to his consciousness.

At night, he practiced in hidden corners, observing energy flow and refining his control. The World Tree stretched its branches further into his inner world, forming observation nodes and small energy storage spaces. He mentally assigned allies—Medusa, Ziya, Little Fairy Sister, and Yan Fei—to watch over the academy and report subtle changes.

To the outside world, Lin Shen was just a quiet, intelligent student. But in his mind, the original plot unfolded clearly: which students would rise, which clans would interfere, and where flames would appear next. Every step was recorded, every possibility calculated. By the end of his first months, the foundations of the Moon Shadow Pavilion and his secret empire were silently taking shape, invisible to all eyes.
