Chapter 1 – The Day of Betrayal
Rain was falling heavily that night. The streets were empty, and the cold wind cut through the darkness like a blade.
Ethan Walker stood outside the large glass building, his clothes soaked from the rain. Inside the building, people were laughing, celebrating success.
But Ethan wasn't invited.
Just a few hours ago, he had lost everything.
He had worked for five years in that company. Day and night he gave his best, believing that one day his hard work would be recognized.
But today, he discovered the truth.
His best friend, Daniel, had stolen his project.
The same project that Ethan spent months creating.
And now Daniel was standing inside the building, receiving praise, money, and promotion.
Ethan clenched his fists.
"I trusted you…" he whispered.
At that moment, the glass doors opened.
Daniel walked out with a confident smile.
"Oh, Ethan… you're still here?" Daniel said, laughing slightly. "You should move on. In this world, only the smart survive."
Ethan's heart burned with anger.
"You stole my work."
Daniel shrugged.
"Proof?"
Ethan stayed silent.
Daniel stepped closer and whispered coldly,
"You were never meant to succeed."
The words felt like a knife in Ethan's chest.
Moments later, Ethan turned and began walking down the empty road.
The rain kept falling.
But inside his heart, something had changed.
His kindness.
His trust.
His innocence.
All of it died that night.
Ethan stopped walking and looked up at the dark sky.
"I swear…"
His voice was cold and steady.
"One day I will rise higher than all of you."
"And when that day comes…"
"They will regret everything."
