Jay POV
Something was wrong.
Very wrong.
Keifer wasn't in class.
Now normally...
I wouldn't care.
Okay.
That was a lie.
π
I cared.
A little.
Maybe.
Fine.
A lot.
But that wasn't the point.
The point was that Keifer was never absent.
Never.
Which was why I kept glancing toward his seat.
And every time I did...
It was still empty.
Annoying.
Very annoying.
Finally I looked toward Yuri.
"Where's Keifer?"
Yuri looked up from his notebook.
"No idea."
"What do you mean no idea?"
"Exactly what I said."
"You're his best friend."
"And?"
"Shouldn't you know?"
"Shouldn't YOU know?"
π
The class immediately became interested.
Felix gasped dramatically.
"She's worried."
"I'm not."
"She's worried."
"I'm not."
"She's worried."
"Felix."
"Yes?"
"Be quiet."
π
Ci-n was already laughing.
David simply pushed his headset up.
"Statistically speaking, she is worried."
"David."
"Yes?"
"Don't start."
π
The class continued teasing me for another five minutes.
Eventually I pulled out my phone.
And sent a text.
Where are you?
Simple.
Normal.
Not suspicious.
I waited.
Nothing.
Five minutes.
Nothing.
Ten minutes.
Still nothing.
Now I was annoyed.
Because if Keifer ignored my messages...
He was dead.
π
Break time arrived.
I was sitting outside with David and Ci-n.
Mostly because David was quiet.
And Ci-n was busy stealing food from everybody.
"That's my sandwich."
I told him.
"Our sandwich."
Ci-n corrected.
"No."
"Communism."
π
Before I could argue, Yuri walked over.
Immediately I sat up.
"Any news?"
Yuri blinked.
"About?"
"Keifer."
The grin that appeared on Ci-n's face was criminal.
"LOOK AT HER."
"I WILL THROW THIS JUICE BOX."
"Worth it."
π
Yuri ignored us.
"No."
That was enough.
I frowned.
Something definitely felt wrong now.
Because Keifer wasn't answering anyone.
Not Yuri.
Not me.
Nobody.
The rest of the day dragged.
History.
Math.
Science.
Nothing stuck in my brain.
I kept checking my phone.
Still nothing.
By dismissal time...
I had officially become concerned.
Which I hated.
A lot.
π
Outside the classroom, I found Yuri.
"Let's go to his house."
Yuri blinked.
"What?"
"His house."
"Why?"
"Because he's missing."
"He's not missing."
"Then where is he?"
Yuri opened his mouth.
Then closed it.
Exactly.
"See?"
Yuri sighed.
The sigh of a man who knew his afternoon was ruined.
"Let me think."
I waited.
Ci-n waited.
David waited.
Finally Yuri groaned.
"...Fine."
"YEAHHH."
ππ₯
An hour later...
We arrived.
And I immediately stopped walking.
Because...
What.
The.
Heck.
π
The place was huge.
Not rich huge.
Movie rich huge.
The kind of house that looked like it came with its own country.
π
There were security guards.
Actual security guards.
Fancy gates.
Perfect gardens.
Fountains.
Fountains!
Who needed that many fountains?
"...What."
"Told you."
Ci-n said.
"No."
"What?"
"Nobody told me THIS."
David adjusted his glasses.
"Technically we did tell you his family was wealthy."
"This isn't wealthy."
"What is it?"
"This is final boss rich."
ππ₯
Yuri laughed.
The guards approached.
For a second I thought we were about to get arrested.
Then one of them recognized Yuri.
Immediately the atmosphere changed.
"Good afternoon, Sir Yuri."
Sir Yuri?!
π
Yuri nodded casually.
Like that was normal.
I was learning too many things today.
The guards opened the gate.
And we entered.
The house somehow looked even bigger inside.
I hated rich people.
π
We stepped into the massive living room.
And then footsteps echoed from the staircase.
Everyone looked up.
A boy was coming downstairs.
Around fifteen years old.
Dark hair.
Sharp features.
And looking suspiciously familiar.
Very familiar.
My eyes widened.
"...Keifer?"
The boy stopped.
Then laughed.
"Wrong brother."
Oh.
π
Beside me, Ci-n grinned.
"Jay."
"What?"
"Meet Keifer's younger brother."
The boy offered a hand.
A smirk already forming.
"Keagan Watson."
The moment he smiled...
I understood.
Yep.
Definitely related to Keifer.
