Once upon a time, the great sage "Valmiki" lived in a peaceful hermitage surrounded by forests and rivers. He was known for his wisdom and deep meditation. One day a celestial sage named "Narad" visited his hermitage. Narad was famous for his knowledge of the past, present and future, and also for travelling freely between worlds accross the multiverse.
Seeing Narad, Valmiki welcomed him with great respect. After offering him a seat and hospitality, Valmiki asked him a question that has been troubling in his mind.
He asked :- "Is there anyone in this world, who possesses all noble qualities? A man who is brave, truthful, grateful, righteous, and compassionate towars all living beings? Someone who is wise, self-controlled, powerful in battles, yet gentle and kind?"
Narad smiled as he knew exactly who Valmiki was searching for.
"Yes", Narad said "Such person exists".
He began to speak about "Rama", the noble prince of Ikshvaku dynasty and the son of King "Dasharatha",the king of Ayodhya.
Narad described Rama as the perfect example of virtue - strong yet humble, wise yet compassionate, fearless in battle yet gentle towards all beings. He said Valmiki how Rama faced great challenges: exile from his kingdom, the kidnapping of his beloved wife "Sita", and the terrible war against the powerful demon king "Ravana" of Sri-Lanka.
But, despite these hardships, Rama would remain faithful to reighteousness and ultimately restore peace and justice.
Valmiki listened with growing fascination.The story of Rama filled his heart with wonder.
Soon after Narad left, something extraordinary happened in the forest that inspired Valmiki to create the very first verse of his writing.
