The timeline of the old world continued to flow, oblivious to its impending extinction. In the Hidden Leaf, the village was in mourning. The funeral of the Third Hokage was a gray affair, held under a weeping sky. While the village searched for Tsunade Senju to fill the void of leadership, the Akatsuki began their move.
In the original history, Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki would have infiltrated Konoha to find the Nine-Tails. But the Nine-Tails was gone. The signature of the Kyuubi had vanished from the Land of Fire and reappeared in a place that didn't exist on any map.
Guided by the shifting ripples of spiritual energy, the two cloaked figures stood at the edge of a vast, white desert that defied the laws of geography.
The Encounter at the Border
"This isn't the Land of Wind, Itachi," Kisame muttered, resting Samehada on his shoulder. "The air here... it doesn't have oxygen. It has weight."
Itachi's Sharingan was already active. "Be careful, Kisame. Something has rewritten the reality of this space."
Before they could take another step, the sand began to swirl. A flash of black and gold light erupted, and a figure appeared before them. He wore a high-collared white jacket, and his hair was a jagged, pale gold. His eyes were cold, void of the warmth that once defined the boy who dreamed of being Hokage.
"Naruto Uzumaki," Itachi whispered, his voice rare with surprise. "You look... different."
"Naruto Uzumaki is a name for a child who died in a cage," the figure replied, his voice echoing with a double-layered resonance. "I am the Prime Espada. And you are trespassing in the Master's garden."
The Power of the New Era
Kisame laughed, a shark-like grin spreading across his face. "The brat has grown a spine! Let's see if your chakra tastes as good as it used to."
Kisame lunged, swinging Samehada. In the past, Naruto would have used a clone or a Rasengan. Now, he didn't even move. He simply stared at the incoming blade.
"Hierro."
The massive, scale-covered sword slammed into Naruto's shoulder. Instead of cutting, the sword shrieked. Samehada, a sentient weapon that ate chakra, recoiled in agony. It didn't taste chakra; it had bitten into a spiritual density so hard it broke its teeth.
"What is this?" Kisame gasped, struggling to hold his trembling sword. "It's not chakra... it's like hitting a wall of solid souls!"
Naruto raised a finger. A small, black sphere of light began to form at the tip. The air around them began to scream as the pressure warped the light itself.
"Cero."
A beam of absolute destruction tore through the air. Itachi reacted instantly, pushing Kisame aside and activating his Susano'o. The skeletal ribs of the orange spirit manifested just in time. The Cero hit the shield, and the impact sent a shockwave that flattened the sand dunes for miles.
When the dust cleared, the Susano'o was cracked. Itachi was bleeding from his eye.
"Is this the power of the Uchiha?" Naruto asked, his voice devoid of emotion. "It is fragile. Like a glass house built in a hurricane."
