Chapter 11 - The First Cult

Eunwoo had discovered a terrifying truth about the new world.

People here were dramatic.

Extremely dramatic.

It had only been one night since the giant demon wolf ran away, yet the small cave where Eunwoo hung had turned into something completely ridiculous.

Torches.

Banners.

Incense.

Someone had even laid a red carpet leading up to him.

"A carpet?" Eunwoo muttered internally.

"System… why is there a carpet?"

[System Notification]

Devotees have begun constructing a place of worship.

"That's not a place of worship," Eunwoo said.

"That's a fan club headquarters."

Outside the cave, soldiers from the Radiant Order stood guard as villagers gathered nervously. Some of them carried baskets of fruit. Others had flowers. One old man had somehow dragged an entire sack of potatoes.

They all stared at the mirror with deep reverence.

Or fear.

Mostly fear.

Commander Seraphine Valeria stood in front of them, looking far too serious for what was happening.

"Listen carefully," she said.

"The being before you is not simply a magical artifact."

She gestured toward Eunwoo.

"This is the divine entity known in ancient scripture as Speculum Eternis — the Mirror Beyond the Veil."

Eunwoo groaned internally.

Please stop saying that name.

It sounded like a boss monster from a cheap video game.

The villagers gasped.

"A god…?"

"Then we're saved!"

"Or doomed…"

A small boy tugged on his mother's sleeve.

"Mom… will the mirror eat us?"

His mother immediately covered his mouth.

"Don't say that! You'll anger it!"

Eunwoo was deeply offended.

Why would I eat you?!

Seraphine raised her hand.

"The Mirror God has already proven his divine power."

She pointed dramatically toward the forest.

"The Rune Devourer fled after gazing upon its own reflection before him."

The villagers gasped again.

One farmer fainted.

Another started crying.

Eunwoo felt increasingly uncomfortable.

I literally just sat here…

The System chimed.

Eunwoo blinked.

"…Wait, I get stronger from this?"

[Correct.]

"Oh no."

This meant the misunderstanding was now powering him up.

Seraphine turned toward the mirror and knelt.

"Great Speculum Eternis."

Her voice carried deep respect.

"We ask for your guidance."

The villagers followed her example.

Dozens of people knelt.

Some trembling.

Some praying.

Some peeking nervously at the mirror like it might explode.

Eunwoo sighed.

What am I supposed to do now?

He didn't want to accidentally create another weird prophecy like yesterday.

But unfortunately—

Thinking was dangerous now.

Because apparently his thoughts turned into divine visions.

The mirror's surface shimmered.

Seraphine's eyes widened.

"A revelation…"

The villagers leaned closer.

Inside the mirror they saw an image form.

A village.

Burning.

Shadowy figures attacking from the darkness.

Seraphine froze.

"That's… Riverwood Village."

Eunwoo panicked.

Wait, what?!

He had just been thinking about how the forest seemed dangerous.

But the vision continued.

In the reflection, bandits stormed the village while people fled.

A child cried.

Houses burned.

Then the image disappeared.

Silence filled the cave.

Seraphine slowly stood.

Her expression had turned cold.

"The Mirror God has warned us."

The soldiers immediately straightened.

"Bandits," she said.

"They will attack Riverwood tonight."

Eunwoo stared internally.

Did I just accidentally predict a crime?

The System chimed again.

[Divine Reflection Skill Activated]

Your subconscious thoughts influence prophetic visions.

Eunwoo sighed.

"Great. My anxiety is now a fortune-telling ability."

Seraphine turned to her soldiers.

"Prepare the knights. We march immediately."

The soldiers saluted.

"Yes, Commander!"

Within minutes the cave was full of rushing footsteps and clanking armor.

The villagers whispered nervously.

"The Mirror God protects us…"

"He sees the future…"

Eunwoo felt very awkward.

I really hope I'm not wrong.

Because if Riverwood Village wasn't actually attacked…

He would look like the worst fake god in history.

But something strange happened.

As Seraphine left the cave, she turned back toward the mirror.

For a brief moment…

Her reflection changed.

Instead of her normal image—

She saw a blindfolded man standing behind her in the mirror.

Tall.

Calm.

Surrounded by endless floating shards of glass.

Seraphine's breath caught.

"The Divine Observer…"

The reflection vanished instantly.

She bowed deeply.

"We will carry out your will."

Then she left.

The cave became quiet again.

Only a few villagers remained behind to guard the "holy mirror."

One old man sat cross-legged near the entrance.

He placed his potato sack down carefully.

"For the god," he whispered.

Eunwoo stared at the potatoes.

"…System."

[Yes.]

"Do I have to eat those?"

[You are a mirror.]

"…Right."

Outside, the sun slowly began to set.

Hours passed.

Eunwoo watched the sky change colors through the cave entrance.

He was starting to feel strangely lonely.

Back on Earth he used to complain about people all the time.

But now…

He couldn't even move.

He couldn't talk.

He couldn't eat ramen.

Suddenly—

Footsteps echoed again.

Seraphine returned.

Her armor was scratched.

Her sword was covered in blood.

Behind her, several soldiers carried tied-up bandits.

The villagers gasped.

Seraphine walked directly to the mirror and knelt.

"The prophecy was true."

She spoke clearly.

"Bandits attacked Riverwood exactly as the vision showed."

Eunwoo froze.

…Seriously?

Seraphine continued.

"But because of your warning, we arrived first."

She lowered her head.

"The village is safe."

The cave erupted in cheers.

"PRAISE THE MIRROR GOD!"

"SPECULUM ETERNIS PROTECTS US!"

"THE DIVINE REFLECTION SEES ALL!"

Eunwoo felt dizzy.

I accidentally became a crime-preventing oracle.

The System chimed again.

The Silent Prophet

Eunwoo sighed deeply.

"This situation is getting worse…"

But far away—

Deep beneath a ruined cathedral—

A group of dark-robed figures stood around a cracked mirror.

One of them whispered nervously.

"The divine mirror has awakened in the human realm."

Another voice answered.

"Then the prophecy begins."

A third figure looked up slowly.

"The Mirror God walks the world once more."

Back in the cave—

The villagers had begun building something outside.

Wood.

Stone.

Pillars.

Eunwoo stared.

"…System."

[Yes.]

"Are they building… a temple?"

[Correct.]

Eunwoo groaned.

"My first cult formed in under 48 hours."

The System added helpfully:

[Growth Rate: Extremely Efficient.]

"…I didn't want a cult."
