"Wow," Nathan said, his eyes sparkling as he looked at decorative knives. "They're so pretty. But are they useful?" he asked as he tilted his head back to look at Griffin. They'd gotten most of their shopping done and were just waiting for the clothes they'd ordered to be ready.
Griffin rubbed Nathan's head, grinning, "They work in a pinch but they're more for showing off wealth."
Nathan hummed as he turned his attention back to the elaborately detailed blades. Carefully setting down the one he'd been holding, Nathan turned to face his mate. "Is there anything else we need to get while we're here?" He asked as he wrapped his arms loosely around Griffin's waist, tired from the outing.
Griffin returned the hug. "No. We're just wasting time. Maggie's not expecting us for an hour."
Nathan hummed as he leaned his head against Griffin's chest. "I'm tired."
"Let's go find something to eat." He picked up the small wolf and made his way out of the market heading towards where he knew a good restaurant was. Nathan was content to let Griffin carry him, snuggling into him as much as he could.
As they reached the entrance to the restaurant, the host standing there gave them an odd look as he watched them. "Table for two?" He asked bluntly.
Griffin glared at him slightly for the rude tone. "Yes, please."
The host said nothing as he grabbed menus and led them to a table in the back by the kitchen doors. "Your server, Diane, will be with you shortly."
Griffin sat down, not letting Nathan out of his lap. "Thank you."
The host gave them another weird look before walking away.
[Well, that was rude,] Kael said.
"No kidding. I've never seen anyone here be that rude. Hopefully that was a one off thing."
Thankfully, their server showed up shortly after that. "Hello, I'm Diane and I'll be taking care of you today. Anything I can get for you to drink right away?" Diane asked, smiling brightly despite the odd sight before her.
"Water and a couple of iced teas please," Griffin told her.
"Absolutely. Have you been here before?"
"A few times, but it's been a while."
"Well, they have changed the menu a little over the past couple years. I'll go get you your drinks and a basket of bread while you look over the menu," Diane said before walking away.
Nathan finally pulled away from Griffin's chest when he heard her retreating footsteps. "She seemed a lot nicer than the other guy."
"Yes she was. Maybe the host was just having a bad day."
Griffin was reluctant to let go when Nathan moved to his own seat. As Diane came back, drinks and bread in hand, Nathan finally had a chance to look at the menu.
"Alright, have we decided what we want or do you need a few more minutes?" Diane asked as she set everything down.
Griffin already knew what he wanted but he could tell that Nathan was lost. "A few minutes please."
"Of course. I'll be right back," Diane said before walking away again.
"I've never heard of any of these," Nathan said as he looked up, wide eyed, at Griffin. "Help."
Griffin smiled as he scootched his chair closer. "Want me to pick for you?" He asked.
"Yes, please," Nathan said as he closed the menu.
