Chapter 48 - Back Together

Nathan was in the middle of cooking a rabbit when a large shadow passed over the cabin, a loud roar sounding.

Abandoning the rabbit, Nathan launched himself out the door, shifting midair, his clothes ripping off him in the process. Racing to the clearing, Nathan burst through the tree line just as a large red dragon was landing. Nathan stood there, panting as he watched the dragon shift back into his mate.

Leaping forward, Nathan shifted back as he reached Griffin, tackling him to the ground in a tight hug, not caring that he was naked.

Griffin was laughing as he hugged Nathan back. "Glad to see you too," he said as he pressed a kiss to Nathan's exposed shoulder. Nathan just tightened his grip, not wanting to let go.

"Don't leave me alone again. Please," he whimpered, holding back tears.

"Oh, my sweet little wolf." Griffin stood them both up, picking up the wolf that wouldn't let go of him. "What happened to your clothes?" He asked, one arm wrapped around Nathan's torso, the other under his bare bottom.

Griffin was intrigued when he noticed the blush that spread across Nathan's face spread across his shoulders and down his back.

"Umm… I might have been a little hasty when shifting," Nathan muttered.

Griffin sighed as he grabbed the bag he'd dropped when he was tackled and began walking them back to the cabin. "I hope they weren't ruined too badly."

Nathan cleared his throat, "They, uh, weren't my new ones."

"Huh?"

"I may have been wearing one of your older shirts."

Griffin nuzzled his neck, "Well, that's fine then. I have plenty.

Walking back into the yard around the cabin, Griffin looked around, checking on what was left of the clothes Nathan had been wearing. Seeing the shredded fabric he sighed. "Yeah, there's no fixing that."

Griffin entered the cabin, only to be shocked by the burning smell that hit them.

"Crap!" Nathan exclaimed as he scrambled from the dragon's hold, running to the hearth where the rabbit was burning. Thankfully it hadn't caught on fire. Nathan rushed the pan out the door, trying to stop any more smoke from filling the room.

As Nathan was taking care of the burnt meat, Griffin calmly walked around the cabin, opening windows to let the light breeze air out the smoke. He turned when he heard Nathan coming back inside, the ruined pan in his hand.

"I'm sorry," he whispered. "I didn't mean to…" Nathan trailed off as tears of shame and embarrassment rolled down his cheeks.

Griffin quickly crossed the room, cupping his mate's face, thumbs gently wiping away the tears. "It's alright, sweetness. You didn't mean to." He pulled Nathan into another hug, leading him to their chairs before sitting down with the sad wolf in his lap. Griffin gently rocked him, waiting for Nathan to calm down. "Better?"

Nathan nodded mutely.

Griffin kissed his forehead, "Good. Let's make something together."

Nathan let Griffin do the cooking this time, too shaken to try at the moment, instead taking over clean up after they'd eaten.

Griffin watched him as he was putting away the last of the dishes, distracted by the fact that Nathan never bothered to put any clothes on after they'd gotten back. Sneaking up behind him, Griffin startled Nathan when he wrapped his arms around his waist while whispering in his ear, "I've missed you Nathan. I think we need to get… reacquainted," he continued as he moved his hand to grab Nathan's hardening member.
