The next morning feels strange.
Like the entire world somehow knows what happened last night.
Even though no one actually does.
I sit in art class with my sketchbook open in front of me, trying to focus on the charcoal drawing I started yesterday, but my brain keeps replaying moments from the night before.
The cliffs.
The ocean.
The kiss.
The way Luca looked at me when he said he didn't want to let me go.
"You look dreamy."
I glance up.
Lily is leaning halfway over my desk with a suspicious grin.
"I look tired," I correct.
"You look like someone who made out with Luca Hayes in a car."
My pencil freezes mid-stroke.
"You are being incredibly dramatic."
Her eyes widen.
"So I'm right."
"I didn't say that."
"You didn't have to."
She gasps loudly.
"Oh my God you did!"
"Lower your voice!" I hiss.
Several people glance over.
Lily looks like she might actually explode from excitement.
"This," she whispers dramatically, "is the best day of my life."
"You desperately need new hobbies."
She leans closer.
"So?"
"So what?"
"What is going on with you two?"
I hesitate.
That's the problem.
I genuinely don't know.
Before I can answer, someone knocks on the classroom door.
My heart jumps instantly.
Because somehow I already know.
Luca stands in the doorway talking quietly with the teacher.
A minute later she looks toward me.
"Autumn? Someone needs you in the hallway."
Lily looks like she's about to combust in her seat.
"Drama," she whispers.
I shove her lightly and step into the hallway.
Luca is leaning against the wall waiting.
Dark hair falling over his eyes.
Just looking at him makes my stomach flip again.
"What did you do?" I ask.
"Nothing."
"Then why are you here?"
His gaze drifts slowly across my face.
"I wanted to see you."
