Chapter 2 - The First Night in the Jungle

Chapter 2 –

Rajveer and Meera slowly walked deeper into the dense jungle. Both of them were completely exhausted. After swimming in the sea for many hours, their bodies had almost no strength left. Their clothes were still wet, and the cool night wind brushed against their skin.

The night had grown darker. The moon was hiding behind clouds, and only faint light was reaching the jungle floor.

Tall trees surrounded them everywhere. Some tree roots were spread across the ground like giant snakes. Long vines were hanging from branches, moving gently with the wind.

Strange sounds echoed through the jungle.

Somewhere far away, wild animals were making unfamiliar noises.

Meera walked slowly behind Rajveer. Fear and tiredness were clearly visible on her face.

"I… I can't walk anymore," Meera said in a weak voice.

Rajveer was also extremely tired, but he forced himself to stay strong.

"We have to find a safe place to spend the night," he said calmly.

Meera looked around the dark jungle.

"Why can't we just stay here?" she asked.

Rajveer shook his head.

"It's already around two in the morning. Sleeping on the ground is dangerous. Wild animals could come anytime."

Suddenly a strange sound came from the bushes.

"Grrr…"

Meera quickly grabbed Rajveer's hand.

"What was that?!"

Rajveer listened carefully and looked around into the darkness.

"Probably an animal. Don't panic… just stay close to me."

Meera held his hand tightly.

They continued walking slowly through the jungle.

After some time Meera spoke again.

"Rajveer… I'm really thirsty."

Rajveer looked around. The seawater was salty, so they couldn't drink it.

Just then he noticed a strange looking tree nearby.

Suddenly he remembered something his grandfather had once taught him.

Rajveer walked toward the tree and broke one of its branches with a stone.

A moment later, clear water started dripping from the branch.

Meera's eyes widened in surprise.

"Is that… water?"

Rajveer smiled.

"Yes. Some jungle trees store water inside them."

Meera quickly drank the water from her hands. The cool fresh water instantly made her feel better.

"Wow… this is amazing," she said.

Rajveer laughed.

"The jungle has its own survival rules."

They walked a little further.

Rajveer noticed that Meera still looked scared, so he decided to tease her.

"You look like a scared little cat right now," he joked.

Meera immediately replied angrily,

"I'm not scared!"

Rajveer laughed.

"Then why were you holding my hand?"

Meera quickly let go of his hand.

"I was not!"

Rajveer continued smiling.

After walking for a while, they saw a massive tree ahead of them.

The trunk of the tree was so wide that even three people together couldn't hug it completely.

Rajveer looked at the tree and said,

"Tonight we'll sleep on this tree."

Meera was shocked.

"What?! On the tree?!"

"Yes," Rajveer said.

"It's safer than sleeping on the ground."

Rajveer quickly climbed the tree and looked down.

"Come on. I'll help you."

Meera was nervous, but she slowly climbed up with his help.

Rajveer used large leaves and branches to create a small sleeping place on the tree.

Meera looked surprised.

"How do you know how to do all this?"

Rajveer smiled.

"My grandfather used to live near forests. He taught me survival skills when I was young."

After that Rajveer climbed down again and started collecting dry wood.

Soon he used two stones to create sparks and started a fire.

The firelight pushed away some of the darkness around them.

Meera finally felt a little safe.

They both sat near the fire.

Rajveer collected some wild fruits and coconuts from nearby trees.

He broke a coconut and handed it to Meera.

"Here… tonight's dinner."

Meera laughed.

"Is this dinner or a jungle picnic?"

Rajveer smiled.

"In the jungle, every day is an adventure."

Both of them laughed while eating the fruits.

The night slowly became deeper and quieter.

Just then Meera noticed a strange tree standing nearby.

It looked different from all the other trees.

Beautiful glowing flowers were growing on its branches.

Meera walked closer to it with curiosity.

"Rajveer… this tree looks so strange."

She gently touched the tree.

The moment her hand touched it, a sudden shock passed through her body.

"Ah!"

Meera quickly pulled her hand back.

Rajveer noticed and rushed toward her.

"What happened?"

Meera said,

"When I touched this tree… it felt like a small electric shock."

Rajveer examined the tree carefully.

"Maybe it's just a strange type of plant."

But they didn't know the truth.

That tree was not ordinary.

It contained mysterious jungle energy… and by touching it, that hidden power had silently entered Meera's body.

But Meera had no idea about it yet.

Rajveer said,

"Come on. Let's go back. We should prepare our place for the night."

Both of them returned to their spot.

They collected more branches and leaves and built a small shelter.

Now their tiny jungle home was ready.

Meera looked up at the sky.

"So… are we really staying here tonight?"

Rajveer smiled.

"Yes. Tonight this is our home."

The cool jungle wind blew softly.

The firelight flickered in the darkness.

And in the middle of the mysterious jungle…

their first real night had begun.

Neither of them knew that this strange jungle was hiding many secrets and dangers waiting for them.
