Chapter 1 - The Road

The boy woke up ever so slightly. His vision was blurry and he could barely see.

Then his vision came back to him slowly. Although he could barely see. The last thing he could remember was the feeling of cold metal landing across his cheek with great force.

Then one of the knights shouted "hey! the boy is up". Another one responded "good so I didn't end up killing him" the knights who responded had a rough look ,his face was scarred and one of his eyes was covered with an eye patch.

"Wha... wait a minute you're the person who knocked me out back at the village!"the boy shouted. "Quiet you mongrel" the knights responded. "You're going to disturb the generals sleep"

"Sleep? So it has been a few hours since I was knocked out" he murmured to himself. The knights laughed "hours? no kid.. it's been three days.. intact we are going to reach the capital tomorrow"

"Wait three days.. how hard did he hit me?" .The boy murmured to himself.

"Anyway kid what's your name?"one of the knights asked. "Huh ,my name ?" he asked. "Yes" the other Knight responded. "Or maybe he doesn't have one" the knights laughed .

The boy looked at them. Then he spoke "well if I tell you my name will you free me from these shackles atleast?". He asked. "No chance in hell...that would be like gambling our lives" the knights said , denying him of a little bit of freedom.

"Well .. whatever I'll just tell you anyway... my name is Aren Viremont" the boy said.

The knights looked at him shocked. "Wait boy you have a surname" . "Is that supposed to be uncommon?" Aren asked confused.

"Just.. go to sleep" the knights told him. "But I just woke up" the boy said to no avail.

He looked at the knights as they turned out the burning campfire. He tried to think about why it was so unusual for him to have a surname. Was it because he was from a village in the outskirts or maybe there was something more?

What he had confirmed though was that in the coming days his life was to change forever.
