My legs gave out instantly.
Felt like bone and muscle turned to jelly, losing all my strength and falling straight to my knees.
Ulrics body stiffened, his stomach twisting and chest tightening.
For a moment, time seemed to freeze.
Then a voice, quiet enough to barely be called a whisper, but loud enough to echoe throughout the endless dark void spoke.
"You remain intact."
Looking up, Ulric found himself staring directly into the dark abyss this creature had for eyes.
Standing directly in front of him. A bit too close for his comfort.
"Wha-…What the hell are you?"
Geez, does this thing not know anything about personal space?
There was a moment of silence before it answered.
"I am the end."
"…huh?"
"I am the end of everything that contains life in this world," It said. " I am the Lich."
The Lich? The name seems familiar…
Ulrics throat went dry. "You're joking right?"
"I do not joke", the Lich said. "In fact, it is not just I anymore…but we."
Ulrics right wrist immediately began to burn.
A thin green thread emerged from his wrist. Slowly it moved, growing in length trying to reach its destination.
Unexpectedly it shot forward at an unimaginable speed, slamming directly into The Litchs hollow ribcage, piercing directly where his heart should've been.
"We are the End of everything." The Litch said as a green glow erupted from his palms, and eye sockets creating green eyeballs.
"You survived the flower."
Before Ulric could answer with another question, The Lich continued…
"Everyone who has come across that flower has had their brains melted. None of them survived…but somehow here you are, intact."
This shit is crazy, being brought to a fantasy world with no magical ability, then being told I'm the end of all living things. This is some crazy shit.
But…It's kinda cool.
Who wouldn't want these types of things told to em?
Ulrics voice grew firmer. "No, that's insane. Who would ever want this?"
*Cough *Cough "So uhhhh…What now?"
"Simple…You continue."
"You didn't randomly come across it. The Endblume guided you towards it…Endblume chose you as a vessel." (Endblume literally means "Flower of the end" in German.)
Ulrics brows lowered at those words. "Vessel?… Vessel of what?"
"The Vessel of Extinction."
I mean, basically being the final villain of this world and bringing an end to all life, does sound pretty cool.
But…what after that? I'll be all alone. It'll get boring pretty fast.
Slowly feeling the strength in his legs returning, Ulric stood up.
"And what if I refuse becoming this vessel of extinction?"
With no hesitation. "Then I'll kill you right here, right now."
"Of course I accept."
"Agreement was never necessary."
"…what?"
"Look at your wrists." The Lich said, pointing down.
His wrist looked normal, until you looked close enough, and his once blue veins were now slightly green.
"My power resides within you. I do not control you."
"You don't?"
During this whole conversation, Ulric remembered the name The Litch, he was one of the villains from Adventure Time, a villain fans considered pure evil.
He knew The Lich could take over people's bodies and control them, but he couldn't be sure what he was being told was true or not.
Green threads erupted from Ulrics body, spreading around and encircling both of them.
Making the once dark empty void illuminate a green glow.
"You are my essence."
The pressure of those words hit him harder than he liked to imagine.
"What does that mean?" Ulric asked.
"It means you are no longer fully human. Your existence will slowly decay life."
The green threads slowly tightened around them, bringing them closer together than ever before.
"You will command death, while others command flame."
"And if you allow it…"
The Litch skeletal figure towered over him. His skull lowered as skull met his forehead. Green eyes piercing directly into his brown eyes.
"You may one day become what I was meant to be."
In an instant, the void cracked and disappeared.
Revealing a bright sea of green, as the leaves of the forest trees returned into existence.
"What the hell? That shit was crazy."
"The sun is about to come out…How long was I in there for?"
"Shit! I'm gonna be late for the potatoes."
"I gotta make it back before he wakes up…uh? Smoke? Is there a fire in the village?"
First, all of this stuff with The Lich, becoming a Vessel of Extinction, now this?
Making his way through the forest, Ulric smelled it before he saw it.
Blood.
Bodies of the Villagers layed across the ground. Men, Women, Children, the elderly, all of them were dead.
Wooden houses cleaved in two with claw marks running down the side.
He searched, searched for anyone who might still be alive. All he found were mangled corpses with missing limbs and intestines spilling out of their stomachs.
Until he finally saw it.
A boy, with dark red hair sitting on the ground surrounded by corpses and blood.
His arms clung around his knees, bringing them up to his chest.
Terrified.
"Hey, kid! You okay? What the hell happened here?"
For a moment, silence lingered.
The boy slowly looked up. Bright Golden eyes and an expression of boredom on his face.
"Oh?… You're alive? he said. "That's surprising. I thought I got everyone."
A demon.
Bright gold eyes and two small horns on top of his head.
It all made sense now.
"A demon…So you're the one who did this."
It wasn't a question.
"Well…yeah," the boy said, looking around at the now dead corpse filled village. "I was bored."
Anger immediately filled Ulrics heart as he thought of one potato harvester.
He's probably gone as well.
Without another word, his once blue veins turned green in an instant.
The Demon felt it instantly.
For the first time, the demons expression changed from one of boredom to curiosity.
"That's strange," he said. "That's not normal magic."
The strange power in his wrist pulsed. It moved slowly, thick like blood.
It moved up from his wrist to his hands.
A green flame erupting from both of his palms.
Feeling something he's never felt before, the demons eyes widened in shock.
"What the hell are you?"
