Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 – Flames of Desire and Danger

The intruder hovered before them—a shadow taller and broader than any of the others. His movements were smooth, almost predatory, and the glint of his blade sent a shiver down Aria's spine.

Ethan stepped forward, positioning himself between the girls and the threat. Every muscle in his body coiled, ready to strike. His dark eyes never left the intruder.

"Stay behind me," he ordered. His voice was calm, but it carried unquestionable authority.

Sophia barely whispered, almost to herself, "I… I want to be closer."

Aria's chest tightened. "Sophia!" Her voice trembled—not from fear, but from the jealousy she couldn't hide.

Sophia only pressed herself slightly closer to Ethan anyway, and Aria's stomach twisted. She couldn't deny it anymore: every instinct screamed that she wanted him all to herself.

The Attack

The intruder lunged with inhuman speed.

Ethan intercepted, grabbing the man's wrist mid-strike.

He spun him around, using the momentum to slam him into the wall.

The blade clattered to the floor.

Sophia gasped, clutching Aria's arm. "He's… unreal."

Aria's green eyes narrowed, chest tightening in frustration and something else—desire she refused to name.

The intruder recovered, faster than Ethan expected. He lunged again, this time aiming not at Ethan, but at Aria.

Time slowed.

Ethan reacted instantly. He threw himself in front of her, sweeping her off her feet with a strong, fluid motion, pressing her against his chest.

Aria's breath caught. Her face was inches from his, and heat radiated off his body. The danger, the closeness, the way he held her as if nothing could touch them… it left her head spinning.

Sophia, meanwhile, pressed herself closer to Ethan's side in instinctive admiration. Her whisper cut through Aria's haze: "I… I'd die for him."

Aria's jaw clenched. "I… I won't let her—" She stopped. The words caught in her throat. She couldn't admit how much her own heart was screaming.

The Heartbeat Moment

Ethan's eyes, dark and intense, flicked between them. He didn't speak, but his presence alone made the room pulse with energy. He spun, disarming the intruder with a flick of his wrist, and slammed him to the ground.

Aria's knees trembled, not from fear, but from how close she'd been to him, from the strength he radiated, from the heat in his body pressed against hers.

Sophia's hands shook. She had never felt desire mixed with awe like this. Watching him move, protect, dominate—it made her pulse race uncontrollably.

Ethan turned toward the girls, voice low but firm: "You need to understand—this isn't over."

Aria's breath hitched. Her green eyes locked onto him. "I… I understand." The words sounded small, weak, but inside her chest, a storm raged. She wanted him. Wanted him more than she had ever wanted anyone.

Sophia whispered again, trembling: "I… I can't stop thinking about him."

Aria's stomach twisted. Jealousy. Desire. Frustration. Everything tangled together in a dangerous knot.

The Final Cliffhanger

Suddenly, a louder, metallic hum echoed from above.

The ceiling panels shifted. From above, a figure dropped silently, landing directly behind Ethan.

The intruder moved with inhuman precision.

Ethan's dark eyes narrowed. His muscles coiled, every instinct screaming danger—but for the first time tonight, he didn't make a single move immediately.

Instead, he whispered, low and controlled:

"Get back… now."

The figure raised a weapon, and in that moment, Aria felt the full weight of fear, desire, and adrenaline all at once.

Sophia grabbed Ethan instinctively, pressing herself against him. Her lips barely brushed his shoulder.

Aria's chest tightened painfully. She wanted to scream—not from fear, but from the storm of feelings Ethan stirred in her.

Then the figure lunged, faster than anything the girls had seen before.

Ethan's jaw tightened.

And the world seemed to hold its breath.

The mansion was no longer just a trap—it was a battlefield.

And someone was about to die.
