The teacher told me to rest and not attend school today.
Apparently, my fever was so bad yesterday that I passed out in the middle of class.
I probably shouldn't have gone to school at all.
So why did I?
Suddenly, my phone started ringing.
A familiar voice came from the other end.
"Hey, Haruto! You okay?"
"Yeah…" I replied weakly, my voice still tired.
Then the doorbell rang.
I decided to ignore it. I really didn't feel like getting out of bed.
But the bell kept ringing.
And ringing.
And ringing.
Eventually, I got annoyed.
With a sigh, I forced myself to stand up and dragged my feet to the door.
When I opened it, I saw Riku, standing there with a plastic bag in his hand.
I blinked in confusion.
"Didn't you just call me?"
Riku chuckled. "Yeah. I did."
He raised the plastic bag.
"Here!"
I stared at him in disbelief.
"Whaaa…?"
Before I could say anything else, Riku casually walked into my house as if he owned the place.
Too tired to argue, I just went back to my room and collapsed onto my bed.
Not long after, I woke up to a wonderful smell drifting through the apartment.
Porridge.
I slowly sat up, confused.
Wait… wasn't Riku the only one here?
Then it hit me.
The plastic bag.
Ingredients.
The door suddenly opened.
"Haruto! I made porridge!" Riku announced proudly.
I gave him a tired stare.
Riku just smiled wider.
"Eat!"
I sighed and accepted the bowl.
Staring down at the porridge, I wondered if Riku had actually cooked it himself.
"Haruto?" he said.
"What?"
"Do you want me to feed you?"
I immediately frowned.
"No. And thanks."
Riku gave me a thumbs-up.
"No problem!"
I took a bite of the porridge.
"…It's alright."
Riku's eyes lit up.
"See? I followed the instructions on the back!"
I nodded slowly.
"Of course you did."
