Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: A Different Kind of Vampire

Dave entered the room and looked at Kay with concern.

"Is something wrong? You look worried."

Raven was nowhere to be seen.

Kay was confused. Where did Raven go?

How could he disappear so quickly?

Dave spoke again, "What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing," Kay replied. "You can go. I'll come in a moment."

Dave nodded and left the room.

As soon as he was gone, Kay began looking around the room.

"Raven… where are you?"

Suddenly, Raven appeared on the bed.

Kay looked at him in surprise.

"Where did you go? And how did you come back so quickly?"

Raven replied calmly, "Go now. I'll tell you everything tonight."

Kay nodded. "Alright. Stay here. I'll be back soon."

Kay went to meet his father.

"You called me, Father?"

The Angel King looked at him seriously.

"Kay, I heard that you met a vampire."

Kay suddenly became nervous, but before he could say anything, the king continued,

"When you were lost in the forest…"

"Oh… yes," Kay said quickly. "He saved my life."

The Angel King nodded.

"Alright. You may go."

Kay turned toward his mother.

"Mother, please send my meal to my room. I'll eat there."

The Angel Queen smiled gently.

"Alright, my son. I'll send it right away."

After Kay left, the king turned to the queen.

"Do you think this could be some kind of conspiracy?"

The queen shook her head.

"No, I don't think so. If it were a conspiracy, why would he save Kay?"

The king sighed.

"I see her shadow in Anna."

The queen looked at him calmly.

"You are overthinking. There's nothing like that. Please don't worry."

Meanwhile, Kay returned to his room.

Raven was not there.

Kay started searching for him.

Then he noticed Raven sitting inside the bathtub.

"What are you doing?" Kay asked.

Raven looked at him casually.

"What do you think?"

Kay hesitated.

"You… take a bath and come out."

Raven slowly stood up and stepped out of the bathtub.

Kay froze.

Water droplets were sliding down Raven's body, and his wet figure somehow made Kay even more nervous.

Raven walked closer to him.

Kay quickly closed his eyes.

Seeing this, Raven smiled.

Instead of doing anything, he simply picked up the robe from behind and started wearing it.

Kay opened his eyes.

Kay, you're going crazy, he thought to himself.

Raven smirked.

"What were you expecting when you closed your eyes?"

Kay became flustered.

"W-what would I expect? I just…"

"Go on," Raven said teasingly. "I'm listening."

Kay smiled awkwardly and thought to himself,

Even hearing my name from his mouth sounds nice.

Raven raised an eyebrow.

"Kay?"

Kay quickly changed the topic.

"You don't eat normal food, right? I ordered food here anyway. Vampires need blood. Do you kill humans? There are humans in your city too."

Raven smiled.

"So you're changing the topic?"

"No… I'm not."

"Alright," Raven said calmly. "I don't drink blood. I eat normal food."

Kay stared at him in shock.

"That's impossible. Vampires drink blood."

"Yes," Raven said. "You're right. But I'm different."

He continued,

"I don't need blood that much. I can eat food… and I can also stay in sunlight."

Kay's eyes widened.

"What?! Then why didn't you tell me earlier?

When I said you couldn't be here in the morning, you didn't say anything!"

He looked at Raven suspiciously.

"You're nothing like other vampires. Are you even really a vampire?"

Raven answered calmly,

"I am a vampire… just different from the rest."

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

Kay opened it.

A maid was standing there with food.

"Please put it inside," Kay said.

She placed the food on the table and left.

Kay turned to Raven.

"Well then… let's eat."

Both of them sat down and began eating together.

Meanwhile, somewhere else in the palace…

The king called Dave.

"From now on, you will stay with Kay at all times, especially when he goes outside the city. And find out everything about Anna."

Dave was confused.

Why suddenly investigate Anna?

But without asking any questions, he simply said,

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Good. You may go now."

As Dave left, he kept thinking,

Why does the king want to know about Anna? What happened?

For the first time, he had seen such worry on the king's face.
