Chapter 6 - 6

Anastasia stood in front of the bathroom mirror, brushing her teeth. Her cheeks carried a faint pink hue, evidence of the thrill and embarrassment she felt from her earlier antics. She stared at her reflection, a sly smile creeping onto her face as she rinsed her mouth.

"I think I did pretty good," she thought to herself, setting her toothbrush down. "Maybe a little too good."

She couldn't help but wonder if her playful performance had done more than just tease Julius. Had she managed to plant a seed in his mind? A thought of Rem, the perfect maid, always by his side? The idea both excited and unnerved her. She'd set this in motion for his happiness, but the thought of him actually considering it left a complicated tangle of emotions in her chest.

With a small sigh, Anastasia slipped out of the borrowed maid outfit, carefully folding it and setting it aside. She held up the uniform, her sharp eyes catching the faint smudges of dirt and wear. The fabric, once pristine, now looked slightly rumpled and lived in.

"Well, that's no surprise," she mused, shaking her head as she stepped into the bath. "After all, I worked pretty hard to make it look dirty."

Settling into the warm water, she let herself relax, her body sinking into the soothing embrace of the bath. The heat melted away her lingering tension, allowing her to reflect more clearly.

"I wonder what Julius really thought," she pondered, her mind drifting. "Did he just see me, or did I make him think of her? Rem... perfect little Rem." She chuckled softly, her fingers gliding over the surface of the water. "She's so diligent, so pure. I bet he admires that about her."

Her gaze flicked over to the folded maid outfit resting on the counter. "And this... this got filthy thanks to me. I wonder if she'd scold me for it." A small laugh escaped her lips. "But that's alright. A little dirt's a good sign, right?"

Anastasia leaned back in the bath, her head resting against the edge as she allowed herself to drift further into thought. "One step at a time," she reminded herself. "This is for him. For his happiness."

And yet, as the water lapped at her skin, Anastasia couldn't deny the thrill that still lingered in her chest.

As Anastasia relaxed in the bath, a new thought crossed her mind, and her cheeks flushed a deeper shade of red. Her gaze drifted to the neatly folded maid uniform resting on the counter. "Julius..." she muttered under her breath, biting her lip. "Why did you have to finish outside? On the uniform of all things!"

She sat up in the bath, splashing water as frustration bubbled within her. The thought of what she had to do next made her stomach turn. She couldn't leave the uniform in its current state—it would be too obvious. And yet, Anastasia had never dealt with such a mess herself. She had always entrusted cleaning to the servants, delegating the task to hands more experienced in mundane chores.

Drying herself hastily, Anastasia wrapped a towel around her body and approached the uniform cautiously, as if it were a bomb about to go off. The faint traces on the fabric made her cringe. She grabbed a dry towel, dabbing at the spots nervously, her brow furrowed with concentration.

"How am I supposed to explain this if I ruin it?" she muttered. "I can't just throw it in water—it's not even mine! And Rem... what would she say if she found out?"

The thought made her wince. "She's probably the kind of person who irons her uniform perfectly every morning. She'd never forgive me if I returned it like this."

Anastasia dabbed and wiped, careful to clean only the affected areas without soaking the entire garment. But with every pass of the towel, her irritation grew. "I can't believe I didn't think about this beforehand. Of course, I'd forget I was wearing it. What kind of idiot plans something like this and doesn't think of the cleanup?"

She sighed heavily, setting the towel down and holding the uniform up to inspect it. It was cleaner than before, but the faint marks of her hurried scrubbing were still visible. The fabric didn't lay as smooth, and she couldn't shake the worry that someone might notice.

"It's too late to back out now," she thought, folding the uniform as neatly as she could. "I'll just have to return it and hope no one looks too closely."

Her eyes flicked to the clock. The morning was fast approaching, and the maids would be arriving to start their day soon. She had to sneak the uniform back into the wooden locker without drawing attention.

Wrapping herself more securely in her towel, Anastasia groaned. "Why does this feel more stressful than the act itself?" She glanced at the uniform one last time, her lips forming a thin line. "Next time, Julius, I swear, you're going to handle the cleanup. This is your fault too!"

With that, she steeled herself for the task ahead, praying that her little stunt wouldn't blow up in her face.

Anastasia crept through the hallway with the maid uniform folded neatly in her hands, her steps light but purposeful. Her heart raced as she thought about the slight dampness still lingering on parts of the outfit. She had tried her best to clean it, but there was no denying it—the tights were still problematic.

She reached Rem's wooden locker and hesitated. Holding up the uniform to inspect it under the faint light, her gaze immediately shifted to the tights. The black fabric bore a distinct pale stain, the result of her earlier actions. Worse still, a faint but unmistakable stink clung to them.

"Damn it... why didn't I think this through?" Anastasia muttered under her breath, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. She'd managed to dab away most of the evidence from the rest of the outfit, but the tights had absorbed more than she expected.

In a moment of desperation, she had tried using a light spray of perfume to mask the odor. The result, however, had been disastrous: the perfume had caused the stain to spread and darken slightly, leaving a blotchy patch that was even more noticeable. Realizing she was only making things worse, she quickly abandoned the idea.

"It's no use. They'll just have to dry on their own," she thought, resigning herself to the situation. Carefully, she folded the tights with the stained side turned inward, hoping that Rem wouldn't notice or inspect them too closely.

The rest of the uniform seemed passable. The faint damp patches she'd cleaned earlier would dry in time, and thankfully, the usual lavender-scented perfume that Rem used on all the maids' uniforms would likely mask any residual smells. But the tights... they were a risk.

Anastasia placed the uniform back in the locker as carefully as possible, her movements deliberate as she smoothed it out to make it look untouched. She tucked the tights underneath the main outfit, their incriminating marks hidden from immediate view.

"It'll dry..." Anastasia muttered to herself, trying to convince herself as much as anyone else. She tugged at the tights in frustration, attempting to fold them so the wet and stained areas were hidden on the inside. It wasn't perfect, but it was the best she could manage under the circumstances.

She sighed heavily. "Rem always smells like lavender or vanilla... her perfume should cover this up, right?" she thought, recalling how meticulous Rem was about appearances. All the maids' uniforms carried a faint, pleasant scent, which Anastasia hoped would mask anything unusual.

Closing the wooden door, she stepped back and stared at it, her stomach twisting with unease. "She'll never notice... right?" she whispered, though she wasn't entirely convinced.

With one last glance, she turned and hurried back to her room, her mind still racing. As she sank onto her bed, she let out a long sigh, running her fingers through her hair.

"Next time," she thought with a grimace, "I'll be more careful. No more uniforms. This is too much trouble."

Anastasia collapsed onto her bed, exhaustion pulling at her limbs after the frantic cleanup. She nestled into the blankets, letting out a sigh of relief.

Finally, it was over. She'd managed to return the uniform to Rem's locker, and while there had been a few complications, it was done. She could finally rest.

But just as her eyes began to flutter shut, a thought struck her like lightning. Her heart skipped a beat, and she sat up abruptly.

"Oh no..." she whispered, her hands flying to her waist.

She was still wearing Rem's panties.

Pulling back the blanket, Anastasia glanced down at herself, her face turning bright red. The delicate lace undergarments fit snugly, and now that she realized it, she couldn't help but feel both embarrassed and amused.

"How could I forget?" she muttered, her hands fidgeting with the waistband. She had been so focused on returning the uniform and hiding the evidence that she'd completely overlooked this one glaring detail.

She considered sneaking back to the locker, but the thought of leaving her room again made her groan. It was late, and the house was quiet. The risk of being caught was too high, especially if anyone noticed her walking around in nothing but a nightgown and someone else's underwear.

Instead, she leaned back against her pillows, covering her face with her hands. "I'll return them tomorrow..." she decided, though the thought didn't make her feel much better.

Anastasia couldn't help but chuckle at herself, a small smile breaking through her embarrassment. "Rem really has no idea how much trouble her uniform has caused tonight," she murmured, shaking her head.

As she settled back into bed, her fingers brushed against the fabric one last time, and she let out a soft sigh. "At least they're comfortable..." she thought before finally drifting off to sleep, already planning how she'd sneak the panties back the next day.

As the first rays of sunlight filtered through the curtains, Anastasia quietly slipped out of bed. The memory of her actions the previous night lingered vividly in her mind, but there was no time for hesitation now. She had to act before the household stirred to life.

With swift yet careful steps, she carried the delicate garment back toward the servants' quarters. Reaching Rem's wooden locker, she opened it and hesitated as her fingers brushed over the soft fabric of the tights she had tried so hard to clean the previous night. Despite her best efforts, the dampness remained, and the faint remnants of Julius's essence clung to the silk, making her frown.

"This is why I never handle cleaning myself," she muttered, a twinge of frustration in her voice. "And now this mess..."

She carefully placed the panties back in their original position, doing her best to ensure they looked undisturbed. But when she touched the tights again, her fingers came away slightly sticky, and her irritation deepened.

"Of course," she thought bitterly. "I should've known silk doesn't clean easily."

She glanced at her hand and grimaced at the faintly translucent residue, now sticky and slightly discolored. It wasn't as obvious as last night, but she couldn't leave it like this. Stepping back, she glanced around to ensure no one was nearby before quietly shutting the locker and retreating to the nearby washroom.

In the privacy of the bathroom, she turned on the faucet and scrubbed her hands, muttering under her breath, "What a mess. At least the smell isn't strong anymore, thanks to the perfume..." She paused, remembering how the perfume had only worsened the wet spots when she'd tried it the night before.

"Well, it'll dry. It always does," she reassured herself, though a pang of guilt settled in her chest. "Still, Rem might notice. I'll just have to hope she thinks it's from cleaning supplies or something innocuous."

Returning to her room, Anastasia dressed swiftly, choosing something simple yet elegant that would mask her unease. As the first maid entered the estate, Anastasia intercepted her.

"Please fetch Rem," she instructed, her voice cool and composed despite her inner turmoil. "I'll need to see her in my room shortly."

The maid gave a polite bow and hurried off, leaving Anastasia alone with her thoughts.

Sitting at her desk, Anastasia tapped her fingers on the polished wood, trying to formulate the right words. She needed to steer the conversation with Rem delicately, planting seeds of thought without revealing her intentions outright. Julius's feelings were already clear, but she needed to understand how Rem felt.

When the knock finally came at her door, Anastasia straightened her posture, smoothing her dress and composing her expression into one of calm authority.

"Come in," she called, her voice steady as ever.

The door creaked open, and Rem stepped inside, her usual grace and composure evident. As their eyes met, Anastasia smiled faintly.

"Good morning, Rem," she began, gesturing for her to take a seat. "We have much to discuss."
