Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

White light shone down on Jay. He awoke in a white bed, the sheets snug around him. Groaning, he wiped his eyes and sat up. He was neither hot nor cold. He looked around the room. To his left there was a door to a bathroom. He could see the shower inside. There were no amenities in there. Not even toilet paper on the roll. To his right was a door with a lock. The entire room was white, with three lights shining up above. This wasn't his room back at home. At home he had Legos lining the walls. Lego Ninjago. Here there weren't even shelves on the walls. There was only a small kitchen in the corner of the room with a cabinet that Jay assumed had nothing inside either. He got out of bed and stood. His body was as normal. 5'5", black hair, glasses. That was good. He walked over to the cabinet. The air smelled of nothing. Sterile. He neared the cabinet and knelt down. It was under the sink. He reached out and opened it. Empty. Yeah. He thought so. But then a blue hologram appeared in his vision. It said: Ninjago Leveling System. It had three buttons below. Stats. Shop. Help. He froze. What was this? A system? At the top of the menu was an exclamation mark. He reached out and tapped it. It expanded to a message written in white light. It said: Player has explored for the first time! Reward: 200 points, 20 exp. When he opened it, another two lights appeared. One said, Exp: 20/100. The other said Points: 200. Next he tapped the help button. The screen changed to show more menus. They called themselves tutorials. There was one on System Introduction, one on the shop, one on upgrading stats, one on unlocking masteries. He hit the exit button at the top right corner. The screen went back to the three options plus the points and exp. He tapped into the shop icon. The screen changed to show school supplies such as pens and pencils and noteboooks. He scrolled down to show toiletries and toilet paper. The prices for the school supplies were 2 points per pencil, 2 per roll of toilet paper, 5 per stick of deodorant and so on. But when he scrolled down even more it got to a weapons page. He saw the Sword of Fire, the Staff of Quakes, the Shurikens of Ice, and the Nunchucks of Lightning. They were priced at 10 billion points each. "What the..." Jay muttered. He closed out of that menu and went into the stats. There he saw stats like Agility, Strength, Speed, and Stamina. He scrolled down again. He saw the Masteries tab. He clocked it. There were things like Kung-fu, BJJ, and... Spinjitsu. He stared at it. Spinjitsu. The Lego Ninjago franchise was his favorite as a kid. He watched all seventeen seasons. The Kung-fu was priced at 100 thousand points. The Spinjitsu at 100 million. He scrolled down even further. There was a tab called Elemental Masteries. There was a warning when he clicked on it. Warning: Only one elemental mastery per user. He clicked the x in the top right corner to pass up the message. There were many elemental mastery options. Fire, Ice, Lightning, Earth, Sound, Gravity, Speed, Smoke, and so much more. They were all priced at 5 billion points each. He clicked out of the menu and went back to the home screen. He clicked the x in the top right corner and the whole menu closed. It left with a message. User may re-open this menu with a thought or intention of doing so. Then it was gone. He stared at the empty cabinet a moment longer. "Ok. Ok." He said. "So I'm in some weird sterile room with a system that has Spinjitsu in it. Ok." He paused. "Let's see where I am." He walked to the door and opened it. A hallway stretched out into the distance. He walked. The hall opened into a common area. Windows revealed themselves. In the windows were trees and grass and modern buildings. A campus. In one of the seats in the common area was a boy. He had unremarkable brown hair and eyes that made Jay feel like he was being measured. He looked in the window at students passing by. On their blazers was the name Advancedd Nurturing Highschool. Jay gaped. He knew where he was. Classroom of the Elite. And he had a system that let him learn Spinjitsu. "Who are you?" The boy asked. "Why are you gaping?" Jay stopped gaping, looking at the boy. "I'm Jay. Jay Smith." "You came from Room 104." Not a question. "How did you-?" "You came from that direction. That room was the only one empty. Until yesterday." "I see. And your name?" "Ayanokoji. Ayanokoji Kiyotaka." "Nice to meet you Ayanokoji." "You as well," Jay reached out his hand. Ayanokoji stared at it before taking it. Ayanokoji walked back to his seat and sat down. Jay walked out of the room and went outside. He saw students walking by and talking with one another. He walked to the building labeled administration and went to the front desk. "Room 104. Jay Smith?" "Correct. Where am I supposed to go?" "Building 37. Room C. Orientation is in 20 minutes." "Thank you." Jay turned around and walked to the room. There was a girl with black hair and a displeased look. She was in the back of the room sitting alone. Horikita. Ike and Yamauchi were sitting up against the window, talking to each other. Ayanokoji sat agains the back wall, staring at the podium. He glanced at Jay and nodded, acknowledging their introduction. A man stood at the podium, giving a speech. "Students of Advanced Nurturing Highschool, you are among the best and brightest Japan has to offer..." He spoke about what an honor it was to be there and wished the students well. When the speech ended, he bowed and exited the podium. The students filed out and Jay followed them to the Class D homeroom.
