Salvar looked at Skyler for a moment before he asked, "How's the woman?"
"The surgery went well. She's safe," Skyler replied with a faint smile.
Salvar nodded and straightened up. "I didn't think you would wait until the surgery was over."
Skyler stood silent for a moment, because he had thought exactly the same thing. He hadn't planned to stay. He had simply found that he couldn't leave. The hospital waiting room had been cold and quiet and uncomfortable, and he had sat there for hours without any real reason that he could explain. "The woman's guardian was her only brother," he said finally. "I couldn't leave him alone in the hospital."
