Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 – The Shadow Strategist

The day Roosevelt finally took the oath of office was quiet, but monumental.

Years of preparation, manipulation, and subtle influence had come to fruition.

I had been with him every step of the way—guiding, nudging, whispering advice at the perfect moment. Genjutsu, charm speak, political maneuvering, and the careful deployment of blackmail had cleared every obstacle in our path. Every rival, every obstacle, every senator who might have opposed us had fallen in line—either willingly or unwillingly.

And now, at last, Roosevelt sat in the Oval Office, the most powerful man in America.

And I? I was by his side.

Vice President. Strategist. Shadow in the corridors of power.

It had not been easy. Even with supernatural influence, the machinery of mortal politics was slow, stubborn, and absurdly complicated. But every failure, every minor setback, had been anticipated. Every move, every counter, had been calculated.

As soon as our positions were secured, our work shifted. The world was on the brink of chaos.

The war would not wait for mortal indecision.

We began immediately forming an army. Not just ordinary soldiers, but one capable of handling threats both human and divine. Demigod allies from Camp Half-Blood were summoned, trained, and organized. They became officers and instructors, teaching select human soldiers how to react to monsters, ambushes, and unnatural phenomena.

And of course, intelligence gathering came first.

Germany. Hitler. The source of the greatest potential threat to both the mortal world and the coming divine conflicts.

I deployed spies immediately.

Children of Aphrodite and Hermes were perfect for the task. Small, fast, charming, and able to slip unnoticed into places humans never thought to guard. They could eavesdrop, steal documents, even subtly influence key people—all without revealing their true identities.

The reports began coming in daily, delivered to me through a secure network.

Movements of Hitler's inner circle

Plans for propaganda campaigns

Recruitment of key political allies

Early military build-ups

Everything.

I digested it all. Analyzed it. Found weaknesses. Calculated the best courses of action.

It was exhilarating.

For the first time, I truly understood what my mother Athena must have felt like during war. Not the chaos, not the violence—but the strategy. The orchestration of people, resources, and outcomes.

I was no longer just a demigod.

I was a strategist. A planner. A general operating in the shadows, shaping both mortal and divine history.

And I had barely begun.

The war was coming. The monsters were still out there. Hitler's plans were growing bolder. And yet, I felt… calm.

Because I had already mapped out the battlefield in my mind.

Because I had already placed my pieces.

Because I had already won half the war before the first shot was fired.

And now, it was time to move the rest into place.
