Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: For the Last Spark of Yuanqiao

The scene within the vision continued.

Theresa lifted her head and looked at the woman who bore the same face as the Marshal of the Xianzhou.

"Red Kite… have you really made up your mind?"

The woman called Red Kite did not answer. She only slowly lowered the longbow in her hand.

And with that single motion, the vast phantom of the Reignbow behind her vanished as well.

"That was… a spirit?" Jing Yuan's pupils contracted sharply.

As an Emanator of the Hunt, he understood such things better than anyone present.

And precisely because he understood, the image in the projection struck him to the core.

Everyone knew that a spirit was the very foundation of every general's power. His own Lightning-Lord was such an existence.

Yet now, the woman in the projection had taken the Reignbow itself as her spirit.

Just who was she, to be so highly favored by the Reignbow Arbiter?

Of course, though the woman in the image looked exactly like their Marshal, Jing Yuan could still spot the subtle differences.

She was not the Marshal.

That in itself was not especially shocking.

After all, throughout the galaxy, there were countless people who resembled one another.

Though the odds of two nearly identical women both being Emanators of the Hunt were absurdly small, it was not entirely impossible.

At that same moment, however, Welt's thoughts were utterly different from Jing Yuan's.

His gaze locked onto the bow-wielding figure, and behind his glasses his pupils shook violently.

The Immortal Red Kite.

That was how Theresa had addressed her in the projection.

That name. That face. He knew them far too well.

In another world, in years long buried by dust, he had seen that face more times than he could count.

She was the immortal who had guarded Shenzhou for five thousand years, the warrior who had withstood countless Honkai disasters—Fu Hua.

He had never expected that, besides Theresa, even the Immortal Red Kite would have a counterpart in another world.

Questions exploded through Welt's mind, but the image did not stop for his sake.

In the heavenly screen, Red Kite finally spoke.

"Once one has chosen this path, there is no such thing as whether the decision has been made or not."

Then she looked at Theresa.

"But you, Theresa—have you truly thought this through? If you regret it now, I can pretend you were never here."

Theresa smiled, a maturity far beyond her apparent years showing in that expression.

"For the sake of the galaxy, and for the people I cherish, I will not regret it."

Red Kite returned the smile.

"For the final spark of Yuanqiao."

And then the vision came to an abrupt end.

But the scenes they had just witnessed were branded into the minds of everyone present.

Yuanqiao.

Another earthshaking revelation had been thrown into the open.

The Hunt Emanator known as Red Kite had claimed that everything she did was for Yuanqiao.

In such a short vision, too many questions had been raised.

But it was not over yet.

Because Nous had not left.

Its gaze shifted toward Cecilia.

[Ding! Your lie has convinced Nous, Jing Yuan, Fu Xuan, Welt, and the others. The lie has become reality!]

[Erudition authority and Hunt authority have both risen dramatically. You have obtained 150,000 Chronicle Points!]

[Remaining Chronicle Points: 212,909]

Could it be… was she actually a genius?

Looking at the sudden gain of 150,000 Chronicle Points, Cecilia suddenly felt that the world was a beautiful place.

She had never expected this casual move of hers to yield such an outrageous profit.

Nous was truly incredible. With its intervention, practically everyone on the Luofu now knew of Theresa and Fu Hua.

And if luck held, then perhaps by tomorrow the entire galaxy would know as well.

Why are you still here, Nous?

Cecilia stared at the immense mechanical figure in the sky, suspicion creeping into her mind.

Nous showed no sign of leaving.

It continued to gaze silently at Cecilia—or rather, at the pendant in her hand.

"…"

A bad feeling came over her.

Could it be that Nous wanted to squeeze some profit out of this too?

Just as Cecilia was wondering whether the Aeon intended to do something, and debating whether she should call upon Yaoshi, the mechanical eyes of Nous flickered once… and then went still.

In the next instant, that vast metallic figure vanished as abruptly as it had come, leaving behind only the fading starlight above the Luofu.

The Divination Commission fell into dead silence.

Everyone still had their heads raised, staring at the empty heavens long after the vision had ended.

March 7th was the first to break the silence.

"So… that was really Nous just now, right? The legendary Aeon of Erudition?"

At this point, even someone as carefree as March had realized just how extraordinary the situation was.

Star only glanced at her in silence, but the complicated look in her eyes said enough.

The most shaken of all, however, was Fu Xuan.

As the one who had operated the Matrix of Prescience, she understood better than anyone what had just happened.

"…Wait. My Divination Commission!"

Suddenly remembering something, she let out a sharp cry.

She staggered out from the center of the formation, quickly checking the state of the array—and her face turned deathly pale.

"Where's the energy? Where is all the Commission's processing power?!"

That was right. To complete this divination, the Divination Commission's energy reserves had been completely drained dry.

Ordinarily, if Fu Xuan had remained in control from start to finish, then even if the divination failed, she would have left enough resources for the Commission to continue normal operation afterward.

But when had Nous ever cared about such details?

Because of the Aeon's intervention, the Divination Commission would probably have to shut down for a while.

Cecilia blinked, then calmly put the pendant away.

"Um… Master Diviner Fu, my condolences?"

But Fu Xuan seemed not to hear her at all.

In the end, it was Jing Yuan who stepped forward.

"Fu Qing, this matter began because of me. I will find a way to compensate the losses suffered by the Divination Commission."

Fu Xuan spun toward him. "Compensate? With what, General? Your salary? Even if you handed over the next hundred years of your pay, it would not cover a fraction of this hole!"

Jing Yuan: "..."

That was, admittedly, rather hurtful.

Still, Fu Xuan was not someone who failed to see the bigger picture.

The prophecy revealed by the Matrix of Prescience was of enormous importance. Even if it had emptied the entire Divination Commission, the result was still well worth the cost.

Complaining, however, was still necessary.

At last, after steadying herself, Fu Xuan turned back to Jing Yuan.

And Jing Yuan immediately understood what she meant.

Yuanqiao.

And that Hunt Emanator who looked nearly identical to the Marshal, and could even take the Reignbow as her spirit.

Those two pieces of information were of the utmost importance to the Xianzhou Alliance.

"Convene the Heavenly Generals' council," he said.
