Reiji was surprised by the question, but he was too angry to care.
Dashing forward, Reiji closed the distance to punch it in the face.
What he didn't expect was for the monster to open its mouth wider and try to bite off a piece of him.
I'm too close.
With that thought he fully extended his fingers instead of having them curled up into a fist.
His hand went inside its mouth, but Reiji pushed all the way down its throat before it could bite down.
When it did, it couldn't bite through. All it did was break the skin, drawing a bit of blood.
The monster felt Reiji's fingers digging into its throat.
Its response was using its free hand to grip Reiji's side and squeeze. It also bit down as hard as it could, drawing more blood.
Blood started pouring from his side as its black fingers dug into his flesh.
Reiji gripped its head with his free hand, digging his thumb into one of its eyes.
He used it to push its head back and pull his bitten arm towards him.
"What didn't you get about what I said? You're dead."
And with that, Reiji's strength caused the things lower jaw and throat to be ripped out.
Its grip on his side was gone as it fell to the floor, the wax from the candle spilling onto the floor.
Reiji let go of the part he just ripped out, letting it plop onto the floor.
The person that was getting eaten let out a few more wheezes before they died with tears in their eyes.
"...I'm sorry."
Said Reiji before he turned around, taking a few steps forward before he heard a sound and stopped.
He looked behind him and saw that the thing had fused back into one piece and was currently sitting on the floor.
Even its eye had recovered.
Behind it the dead person also sat up, darkness covering their entire body.
After a few moments the freshly revived person looked just like the original, except the clothes of course.
It looked at Reiji with the same, disturbing grin.
Reiji fully turned toward the now multiplied creature before noticing the infant was also under the effect of the darkness, its head and body connected via long, dark string.
The head was looking at Reiji with a smaller, but no less sinister grin.
"Which…noble…sent…you?"
They all said perfectly in unison with the same voice that caused Reiji to shiver from just how unpleasant it was.
After he regained his composure, he spoke.
"Weird first words but who am I to judge?"
Reiji said.
He then heard rapid thumping to his side.
Turning, he saw what was probably the body of the man torn in half possessed and currently crawling towards him.
The two possessed in front of him quickly sat up and ran at him.
Reiji raised his arms up and the force they crashed into him with was enough to send the three of them breaking through the wooden wall behind Reiji.
They landed on the road going through the village.
The throats of the possessed pressed against Reiji's forearms as they tried to bite him.
Before their hands could do any damage, they had Reiji's boots pressing against their chests, pushing them away a few meters.
Reiji got up and felt something wrap around his wrist.
He looked down and saw it was the possessed baby, using the string of darkness to wrap around his wrist.
Before he could get rid of it, the head already bit down and got anchored.
"Ugh, great."
Reiji winced, trying to pry it off but it would take a chunk of flesh with it so he stopped.
The two possessed charged once again and the third crawled rapidly towards Reiji behind the two possessed.
Reiji couldn't help the grin that came to his face as he thought of a plan.
He used the arm that the baby was anchored to and used the small body of the possessed as a weapon, striking the side of the jaw of one of the possessed.
The other possessed was dealt with using a front kick to its face, causing it to drop to the ground next to Reiji.
He then used the baby again, using its body to wrap around the neck of the possessed that he struck first with it and pulled it closer, also moving forward to close the gap faster.
When close enough, he jumped and delivered a knee straight to its face.
It dropped to the ground as the third one crawled towards Reiji.
With his arm actually anchored now, since the string of darkness was still wrapped around the neck of the possessed, he grabbed the whole body and lifted it over his head.
Reiji timed it just right and crushed the crawler with the body.
Before he could untie the baby, the thing let go of its influence and the darkness faded, freeing his arm.
The head let go and fell to the ground.
Reiji's grin faded and he sighed.
"Tell me, who's next?"
Turning around, he saw what seemed to be the whole village possessed by the thing.
They were all so mangled. Some had bites taken out of them while others were missing entire body parts.
They all had the same look, same grin, same eyes.
The three possessed he took out also just casually got up.
One was to his right, another two to his left.
One of them, that was to his left, was centimetres away from Reiji's head, staring at the left side of his face.
No one moved nor spoke.
Reiji started by elbowing the face of the one closest to him, that'd be the one on his left.
He pulled out his katana from the scabbard placed diagonally across his back with his right hand and at the same time lifted his left foot.
He sliced the one to his right and stomped on the head of the crawler to his left, crushing its skull.
He jumped back as the possessed village charged him.
When he landed, he turned and ran.
He saw all of the doors were now open on all of the houses, so he ran inside one of them.
As the horde followed him inside, some of the possessed jumped through the walls and support beams.
Reiji ran through the door at the back of the house, exiting it.
When he ran through the house however, he punched whatever wooden beams or walls he could which contributed to the inevitable collapse of the house with a lot of the possessed inside.
