Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 : Second Battle of Souls

After experiencing his first soul battle, Du Feng became increasingly interested in spirit fighting.

So after completing Zhao Wuji's gravity training during the day, he began going to the Soto Grand Soul Arena at night together with Ma Hongjun.

As for Dai Mubai, he had his own priorities—namely, finding another girl.

That evening, Du Feng brought Ma Hongjun to the Soto Grand Soul Arena. Showing his Iron Soul Badge to the staff member, he asked for a match to be arranged.

But before heading to the arena, Du Feng went directly to the betting market inside the Soul Arena to check the odds for his match.

"The odds are one to two," the staff member said. "You can place your bet now."

"Alright," Du Feng replied calmly. "I'll bet on myself to win. One thousand Gold Soul Coins."

He took out a card and gestured for the waiter to record the bet.

It was obvious that this young master was not short of money.

"Brother Feng…"

Ma Hongjun stared at him in shock, unsure what to say.

He had always known that Du Feng was wealthy, but he never imagined he would be this rich.

One thousand Gold Soul Coins!

And Du Feng didn't even take out a bag of coins—he simply paid with a card.

The feeling of casually using a card to bet a thousand Gold Soul Coins was completely different from handing over the coins themselves.

The display of wealth left Ma Hongjun completely stunned.

"Alright, your bet has been recorded," the staff member said efficiently.

The staff of the Grand Soul Arena were very quick with their work. The money was recorded, and Du Feng was handed a voucher for his bet.

If Du Feng won the match, his one thousand Gold Soul Coins would immediately become two thousand.

After all, winning a match normally only earned ten Gold Soul Coins. Compared to that, betting on himself was far more profitable.

As for match-fixing, almost no one dared attempt it.

The Grand Soul Arena was jointly founded by the seven most powerful Soul Master families on the continent. If anyone was caught manipulating matches, their head would probably be hung outside the arena the next day as a warning to others.

After placing his bet, Du Feng followed a staff member to the waiting lounge and prepared for his upcoming battle.

Soon, he heard the host's voice calling his name.

Du Feng stood up and calmly walked toward the Soul Fighting Arena.

"The match begins!" the host announced loudly.

Du Feng looked at his opponent.

At first glance, the man appeared tall and burly, so Du Feng assumed he had a beast-type martial soul like his own.

But when the opponent activated his martial soul, it turned out to be a weapon-type martial soul—an iron chain.

"Come here!" the chain soul master shouted.

His first soul ring lit up, and the iron chain extended rapidly, shooting toward Du Feng's waist.

Normally, most people would try to dodge such an attack.

But Du Feng did the exact opposite.

"You should come to me!" he replied.

Activating his first soul skill—Mighty Force—Du Feng reached out and grabbed the chain just before it wrapped around his waist.

Then he began pulling the chain with brute strength.

This kid is unbelievably strong, the chain soul master thought in shock.

He shouted and tried to resist the pull, planting his feet firmly on the ground.

"It's useless to struggle. Come here."

Du Feng gripped the chain tightly with his right hand, abandoning any proper combat stance.

Using both hands alternately, he slowly dragged the opponent toward him.

After all, how could the physical strength of a weapon-type Soul Master compare with that of a beast-type battle Soul Master?

If he lost in a pure strength contest, it would be utterly humiliating.

The chain soul master's face turned red as he struggled desperately, but his body was still slowly being dragged closer to Du Feng.

Realizing he couldn't win the strength battle, he quickly activated his second soul skill—Spikes.

Sharp spikes suddenly grew along the iron chain, hoping to force Du Feng to release it.

Du Feng immediately felt a sharp pain in his palm.

The spikes had pierced his skin.

Without hesitation, he activated his second soul skill—Crystallization.

Amethyst-like armor instantly covered his entire arm.

Seeing that his opponent had resorted to such tactics, Du Feng stopped holding back.

He wrapped part of the chain around both hands and suddenly began pulling in opposite directions.

He was actually trying to tear the iron chain martial soul apart.

Seeing this, the chain soul master's eyes widened in horror.

If his martial soul were really torn apart, he would suffer serious injury.

This kid was a complete monster!

Without hesitation, he immediately activated his third soul skill—Doubling.

His iron chain suddenly grew thicker and heavier.

At the same time, he extended the chain again with his first soul skill and swung it above his head.

Then he hurled it directly toward Du Feng's chest.

Du Feng felt the sudden increase in weight and immediately realized what his opponent intended.

The iron chain was extremely heavy now.

If he took the attack head-on, he would probably be coughing blood and bedridden for months.

Without hesitation, Du Feng activated his third soul skill.

With an explosive burst of speed, he dodged the incoming chain and rushed straight toward his opponent.

The chain soul master barely had time to react.

A fist suddenly appeared in front of him.

Before he could even defend himself, Du Feng's punch struck his temple.

The chain soul master collapsed instantly.

He fell unconscious on the Soul Fighting Arena.

This was only because Du Feng had controlled his strength.

Otherwise, that punch might have sent his opponent directly to drink Meng Po's soup and start his next life.

Seeing this, the host quickly stepped onto the stage.

"Victory goes to Soul Master Du Feng!"

Staff members immediately carried the unconscious chain soul master away for treatment.

After stepping down from the arena and collecting his ten Gold Soul Coins reward, Du Feng went straight to the betting counter to collect his winnings.

Soon, he received his original stake along with the two thousand Gold Soul Coins he had earned.

With that, he prepared to leave in style.

Ma Hongjun stood beside him, staring at the pile of gold coins with wide eyes.

Since childhood, he had never seen so many Gold Soul Coins.

"Brother Feng! That's incredible!" he exclaimed excitedly.

Seeing Ma Hongjun's reaction, Du Feng found it amusing.

Since he had earned two thousand Gold Soul Coins today, he casually waved his hand and handed Ma Hongjun one hundred Gold Soul Coins.

Ma Hongjun nearly jumped with excitement.

He had never held so much money in his life.

Immediately, he began showering Du Feng with endless compliments.

Even though Du Feng said nothing, the smile on his face couldn't be suppressed.

Ma Hongjun continued praising him enthusiastically—calling him handsome, talented, and heroic—throwing out every flattering word he could think of.

Surrounded by Ma Hongjun's enthusiastic compliments, Du Feng happily returned to Shrek Academy.
